New to the area, I took my pup here for a UTI with the good reviews I expected A good visit. First visit was fine, staff was nice. However, doc didn’t perform a full exam on my pup… took her to my vet back home when I was visiting family a week later to find she had an ear infection that had been missed because doc didn’t bother to do a full exam and check her ears…
Fast forward to her follow up appointment for a Urinalysis to check and make sure infection was gone, doc left the room multiple times during the exam and most times I was Mid sentence trying to tell him my concerns. He said

Terrible nightmare with my cat who's 14.5 years old.....started treatment last October, that's right last October 2020 during Pandemic crisis....sinus infections leading to infection in her left eye causing left eye swelling and substantial mucus discharge causing me to wash the infected left eye once or twice a day to clean away the infection........ Dr Barry Chaiken who apparently is my veterinarian has not resolved for over 12 months....Well, guess what? Last visit , Dr Barry Chaiken requested a blood culture to see if he can figure out what Antibiotic to administer....

The receptionists were so nice and helpful. But I didn't like how the vet treated me-- he raised his voice at me for asking a couple of questions about the info he was quickly going over with us. It made me feel uncomfortable as if I couldn't ask for clarifications. I read other people's reviews and looks like I'm not alone in this.

DON'T TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!
My dog needed a simple cherry eye surgery and has since been dealing with bleeding. We picked her up with NO CONE. They never put a cone on her after surgery. The second picture is when we brought her home and put her in a cone we had, and the first is 3 days later. Went to see the doctor to see if what was happening was normal, and they wanted us to wait 3 hours in our car until there was an availability....WHILE MY DOG WAS ACTIVELY BLEEDING. When I got inside, the doctor had the nerve to tell me I was making a scene (my dog is bleeding from a surgery he performed

The worst vet ever. My poor pups face was bleeding due to intense itching from atopic dermatitis. My groomer told me she had a skin allergy and did not have a flea or tick problem. When I brought her in, he barely looked at her and seemed rushed. Horrible bedside manners. He injected her with cytopoint which didnt help. He told me to give it a few days and if it doesnt work to come back to see what our other options are. I am extremely dissatisfied with my visit and will not be returning.

We first met Dr Chaiken 21 years ago when we moved to Valley Ranch. He has been the trusted family vet through 5 canine kids. Even though we moved from Valley Ranch five years ago, we still make the now 25 minute drive back to this clinic. Dr Chaiken literally saved the life of one of our babies. He is a caring man and he and the clinic staff have been wonderfully supportive when it was time for some of our little babies to cross the Rainbow Bridge. I would have to live MUCH further away before I would consider any other vet than Dr Chaiken.

The staff is super sweet, very helpful. However, my dog has better manners than the Veterinarian. Super rude. Acted like every question was a stupid question...or otherwise, had no advice to offer. I adopted my dog through a rescue group. Thank God I will not be dealing with him for much longer. Sorry, but the Vet at this location needs some people training.

**Just read more reviews, and saw the vet does the rescue on pro bono...which I applaud, but also know they are still receiving funds. To treat rescues and newly adopted parents that way makes me even more upset.

Honestly you made the experience great. I can't think of anything you can do to make it better. Staff is friendly, Dr C is great. I feel like Coco is in great hands every time we come there.

I live in Grand Prarie but chose this location because of the reviews. Everyone here did not disappoint! I brought my tiny 4lb chihuahua for a spay and microchip and she was taken great care of. Small incision and she was happy and ready for more kisses when she left. All the ladies in the front were absolutely lovely! I'll take all my babies back here from now on.

I wasn't happy with the service the vet gave. My dog loves people... but I've never seen her so scared of a person. The vet came in and just pulled on her collar.. no treats, no hi... no love. I mentioned him giving her a treat to calm and win his affection, he completely ignored me and kept pulling her. The only petting he did was at the end and only a small tab... it's as though he didn't want to be there. There wasn't much eye contact with me and him either. My dog kept running to me and even jumped on me as soon as he came in... I don't trust this place. Plus,

I have had great experiences with the last few visits to see Dr. Chaikin. They are always cordial, run on time as scheduled and get you in and out. I also appreciate the longer hours for those of us who work later. Great find for this area!

My partner and I decided to take a last minute getaway to Dallas for the weekend. We decided to bring our 5lbs yorkie pup Liam along for the ride. Big mistake! Liam gets all stressed out from the flight and new surroundings that he decides to have diarrhea with blood. Thank goodness for the Animal Hospital of Valley Ranch for being open and taking us as a walk-in patient in between appointments. The staff was very helpful and reassuring that Liam would be fine. They even gave us recommendations on food selections as well. We are now settled back home in Miami and Liam is doing just fine. Thanks

This is not the veterinarian for you if you are looking to depend on a professional for strong guidance and solid education in matters of life and death for your pet. We unexpectedly had to euthanize our four year old miniature dachshund about a month ago, partially due to the lack of Dr. Chaikin's willingness to effectively communicate risks and options for our beloved Bodhi who suffered from renal failure.

I wrote a long, detailed review on 8/1/18 but decided to delete and re-write the review to be more concise and to the point for the sake of other pet owners. I will preface the following

To begin, the front desk is awesome. Coming to the vet, we have complete trust in Dr Chaikin. His treatments work very well with our dog. And last but not the least, the prices, I feel are reasonable as well.

Wow wow wow this Animal Hospital is incredible. We rescued our dog from DASH rescue and due to this Hospital completing spays for rescue dogs, this was the vet we were told to go to. I was going to write a review after the spay as the customer service was so great (Jennifer was exceptional) and the stitching on our dog was so great. Dr. Chaikin only left a very small incision and it healed in less than a week! She was pain free the next day as well. I have heard that many doctors leave big scars from a spay or neuter but that Dr. Chaikin was known for making such small incisions. A couple weeks

These people care.
It was Christmas. My son was in town with his dog, and while we were away for an hour, his dog got into the Christmas stockings and ate all his doggy treats, along with a bunch of chocolates and chocolate chip cookies and who knows what else! We called their emergency number in a panic, and they not only answered right away, they were extremely helpful and caring. Their advice helped us immensely and our furry buddy was fine. We never had to actually GO there, but can attest to their timely manner in answering the phone over the Holiday when the office was closed and they were

I love Animal Hospital of Valley Ranch. I have been using the services of Dr. Chaiken for over 11 years. At first, it was for my elderly dog, who sadly had to be put to sleep in 2004. A week after this sad event, I got a condolence card from the doctor, expressing sympathy and reassuring me I did what was necessary for my pet. I was so touched, I have kept the card to this day.

Now, I take my three cats there. The front office staff is wonderful, prices are reasonable and they do a good job. I will stick with this place, for sure!

I am torn here. The customer service in the morning is great! The customer service in the evening sucks. I also don't like that the groomer is an outsourced groomer and does not leave notes for you regarding anything concerning your pet. She knicked my dog's paw and when I went to piick him up, it couldn't be explained. I won't be using them again
