Joseph Hudgins was raised in the Carbondale and Murphysboro area. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois in 1983, his dental degree from Northwestern University in 1987, and his specialty in orthodontics from the University of Nebraska in 1989. After serving in the United States Navy, he returned to the Southern Illinois area to begin his practice in 1992.

Terms of orthodontic insurance coverage vary from company to company and policy to policy.
We strive to provide you with affordable, high-quality treatment that fits your budget! Financial arrangements will be discussed at the initial visit and then again at the treatment conference. No two orthodontic treatment plans are identical, so costs may be different from patient to patient. We offer a variety of payment options to meet your needs.
Orthodontic forces must be adjusted and monitored on a regular basis for treatment to proceed as planned. Many of your office visits will inevitably conflict with work or school. Orthodontic treatment proceeds in stages. At some points what is needed is a gentle nudge here and there, requiring a relatively short appointment.

Dr. Hudgins does a fantastic job! My son just had his braces removed today. I almost cried when I saw how beautiful my sons smile was after 2 years of braces. Dr. Hudgins and his staff have been nothing but wonderful the entire time. Always friendly and will work your kid ASAP if they have a problem with their braces. Dr. Hudgins did my braces as well and he will soon do my youngest sons. I wouldn't go anywhere else! I recommend them to anyone needing orthodontic work. Thanks Dr. Hudgins!

Our family had a very positive experience at Dr.Hudgins Orthodontics. My son recently had his braces removed, and he has a beautiful smile! The entire team at Dr.Hudgins’ office is courteous, competent, kind. I felt that my son was valued as an individual, and I could breathe easy knowing he was in skillful hands. Six Stars! We've had a great experience with Dr Hudgins! Our daughter had her braces removed today and her teeth are perfect. The staff is always amazing at accommodating our schedule, our needs, and our concerns. Recently, our daughter broke a part of her braces while on vacation in South Florida. We called the office and they helped us find a local orthodontist. Unfortunately, that orthodontist was two hours from our current location. Dr. Hudgins learned about this and didn't want us to spoil our vacation. He walked us though a temporary fix to make her comfortable for the remainder of our vacation

Dr. Hudgins and his staff made Ella’s braces experience absolutely amazing. They were so adaptable with their scheduling. Everyone was so friendly to greet us. We knew exactly what to expect at each appointment. And don’t even get me started on Covid!! They transitioned beautifully to make everything work out during a very difficult time. Visiting from Portland, OR and a wire in my braces started to snag and cut my cheek. Walked in to see if they could help me and the office staff was so accommodating. Dr. checked my braces and gave the ok to the technician to go ahead and snip that pesky wire! She even gave me some more wax!! Thank you so much for all your help!!
