The Ronin Martial Arts Centers are based on the Modern Bujutsu System, a comprehensive martial arts system founded by Dr Marty Manuel. Ronin Martial Arts Centers expand upon the core systems of Modern Bujutsu and the teachings of Master Manuel. The Ronin Martial Arts Center teaches USA Goju-Ryu, in combination with modern kickboxing and contemporary Filipino martial arts.
There are similar requirements for both Adult and Childrens karate classes. This keeps our system complete as a student moves through their belt ranks and grows in the system. The emphasis in Modern Bujutsu is not speedy progression through the ranks; rather, the focus is on quality training and a firm grasp of concepts learned.
The Modern Bujutsu Center Dojo was founded by Dr Marty Manuel. The dojo has been the home to many outstanding karate and kickboxing competitors. The roots of the system are founded in a synthesis of Okinawan Goju karate and the USA version of Goju as conceived by O' Sensei Peter Urban. Grandmaster Manuel, along with his good friend Eddie Andujar, began their amateur and professional kickboxing careers during the 1970's.
The patch for the Ronin Martial Arts Centers is a an adaptation from our core system, Modern Bujutsu, founded by the late Dr Marty Manuel. At the heart of the symbol is the Goju fist, representing our roots in Goju Ryu Karate. The Red, White, and Blue colors eombody our USA Goju roots from O' Sensei Peter Urban and our pride as Americans.
A student arrives at the dojo prepared for the physical and mental challenge of dedicated training. One enters the dojo, bowing as you enter to show respect for your dojo and the instructors. To enter the training floor, all footwear is removed and the student is attired in a proper karate gi (uniform).
