Marion Nelson Funeral Home, family owned and operated for four generations, was established in 1951. This family tradition began when Jack Stephenson married Ruth Nelson and started the funeral home business with her son, Marion H. Nelson. Marion and Helen Nelson were married and have been actively involved in the business until Marion's death in 1991.
Mrs. Nelson continues to be an active part of the business. The couple's sons have kept the legacy going. Barrett Nelson is the Funeral Director in charge of the funeral home in Lake Wales and Frostproof. Chris Nelson is the Funeral Director in charge of Stephenson - Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park and Sebring.

Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.

Every associated we met who work with this company are all exceptional people. My husband and I made all our funersl arrangements with Maggie. She was so helpful when we left we knew we'd made the right choice with selecting Nelsons. My husband is retired military and we had no idea how to handle internment in a national cemetery. Maggie handled all our wants for our final home that we know when the time comes everything will be handled by a very experienced company.
