I highly recommend Ziran! I’ve been studying with Thomas for the past few months, and he has been a great instructor, very patient and generous in teaching an absolute beginner with zero martial arts experience like me. He is really good at catering to students’ concerns and needs, and making sure they’re able to push past their limits while also keeping the sessions lighthearted and fun. He really cares for his students’ progress, and it shows in his teaching!

I am pleased to recommend Ziran Martial Arts. Three years ago, at age 38, I enrolled with the intention of better managing joint pain and stress. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made at this life stage. I’ve rediscovered the joy and benefits of learning martial arts (attending taijiquan class and then also learning some gungfu and weapons), and have made new friends and acquaintances in the process.
There’s a lot more to learning taijiquan than is readily apparent. There are multiple levels of subtleties and applications, and biomechanical and theoretical principles to

I have taken twelve years of kenpo karate, about three years of aikido, and have dabbled in Krav Maga, so when I moved to the area, I mostly was looking for any studio to continue my practice so that I wouldn't get rusty and get some exercise. I found Ziran Martial Arts after some googling, and decided to give the studio a try. After nearly a year… of practicing there, I am ready to write my review. The long and short of it is, this has potentially been the best decision I have made in my adult life.
I can only speak for the adult classes, but from what I have seen from recitals and seminars

I joined #Ziran Martial Arts about a year ago because my doctor recommended I get more exercise. I'm 42, and not one for the gym, but the martial arts I practiced in my youth always kept me interested and engaged. #KungFu (and T'ai Chi Chuan) has always interested me, and so I was delighted to find Ziran very near by. Several evening classes were… offered, in both T'ai Chi and Kung Fu, which would fit into my busy week. Within the first few weeks I dropped 10 pounds, and immediately began to feel more energetic throughout the day. I also noticed some relief from lower back pain that I've

Joining Ziran Martial Arts a year and a half ago is one of the best decisions I have made. I am a 45 year old man with really no martial arts background. I train along side students of all ages and backgrounds. Some have been training most of their lives. Yet everyone seems to walk away from each class having learned something. Every class I walk… away feeling as though that class was designed specifically for me. And while I know that isn’t true I get the sense that I am not the only one that feels that way. My 6 and 4 year old daughters are enrolled in the kids class as well. They

Serious martial arts in an incredibly congenial environment: I have been doing martial arts on and off since I was a very small child. I have done a couple of different styles of karate and a few years of jiujitsu. I have always wanted to try Tai Chi, but I have moved a lot in my life (every few years) and have never ended up for long enough… within a convenient distance of a good school. I feel extremely fortunate to have finally settled down near Ziran martial arts. I have been training here for nearly a year, and I have learned a tremendous amount. I have found myself drawn not only into

Ziran Martial Arts is a welcoming and warm school to learn with a comprehensive curriculum. Sifu Davis, Thomas-laoshi, Katrin-senpai keep in consideration different types of learners and make certain to work with a student at their level. The more advanced students do their best to assist newer classmates and help to create a friendly environment in the dojo. In all my three years in Ziran, I always felt a sense of community and home. Even after a long break, when I returned to the dojo, it felt like I had never left. Ziran Martial Arts fosters a strong knowledge in tai'chi chuan and Shaolin gongfu

Some time ago I got a gift certificate to Ziran Martial Arts. Now I'm in the middle of my second year here. I cannot tell about kids programs (although I see a lot of kids leaving the school when I come to my class) but I really enjoy adult classes. Not only we cover a lot of ground - from T'ai Chi Chuan to meditation and self-defense, but also the atmosphere is very relaxing, people are friendly, and overall it's a nice change after a long office day.

Ziran martial arts is the best place you can find near the Edison area if you are interested in traditional Chinese kungfu, or probably martial arts in general. Ziran emphasizes equally on the two aspects of taichi----- (1) Taichi principals and Qigongs, (2) combat applications. Most of the teachers in traditional inner-style kungfu have the problem of being unrealistic and imaginary(I personally experienced several ones). But this is not true for Sifu Seth. His skills are clearly examined in real application, and are well-balanced between effectiveness and intellectual value. From my understanding

I am very happy that my 5 years old son is learning KungFu at Ziran Martial Arts. He joined Ziran three months ago and it has been wonderful since.Although it has been only 3 months, and considering his young age, he has learn so much, we can hardly believe that he is so new to martial arts. Thomas and Katrin manage to manifest an atmosphere that… somehow brings together the Kung Fu teaching and discipline, along side with playfulness and fun. The class my son goes to is small and at any given time we feel that he gets personal attention and support. Sifu Davis is very responsive and we

Ziran Martial Arts has wonderful, caring teachers for the children: Sifu Davis, Thomas Laoshi, and Katrin Sempai know how to make kung fu safe, fun, and educational. They put tremendous thought and energy into their teaching and give a lot of individual instruction. They are also great people. We feel very lucky to have found this school.

After leaving another martial arts school, I came to Ziran with very minimal requirements: that I don't have joint pain the day after class. Ziran Martial Arts has been an amazingly positive experience. Joint pain has never been an issue, and I've also gained in-depth guidance on preventing and resolving various fitness related injuries. Ziran Martial Arts offers a broad scope of skills with considerable depth, covering bio-mechanics, self-defense, meditation, sparring, swordplay, and more. Ziran Martial Arts holistically integrates these disciplines into its curriculum, never treating them in

Our son has been at Ziran for six months, & we can't say enough good things about it. Seth & Thomas are fantastic teachers -- they both have a good sense for when to push the kids & when to let them be. When disciplinary issues come up, they are firm but kind -- unlike the unduly punitive approach I've seen at another local school. Thomas is a great motivator, & Seth excels at breaking down difficult moves into smaller parts so that the kids understand them. Highly recommended!

Ziran Martial Arts is the real deal. Seth and Thomas are accomplished T’ai Chi practitioners and lifelong martial artists. Whether you want to go deeply into the martial aspects of T’ai Chi Chuan or you just want to learn and practice the forms as a moving meditation and exercise, Ziran is a great place to discover and explore the richness of this demanding, very rewarding art. If you are interested but unsure, stop by and check them out. Seth and Thomas are always happy to meet the curious and let them observe or jump into a class (for free). I walked in the door two years ago and have been
