Like others have stated, Safe CU used to be one of the best local credit unions. I've been with them for over 15 years, yet they have zero respect for us long-term members. About five years ago I tried to get my interest rate adjusted and they wanted to charge me $100 to have it checked. They're supposed to be a credit union for the member, not… against. Their support hours are super minimal, and their online security is a joke. I've gotten locked out of my account yet again because security measures changed without warning, phone support closes early for a bank, and their 'email' support

My wife and I are currently contemplating leaving SAFE all together after our experience with the branch in Folsom Blvd. BEWARE!

People are nice enough on surface level, but they have absolutely no knowledge or training on the services the bank provides. We were lied to and mislead at every step of the auto loan process and in the end, they assigned the loan to a family members account rather than ours creating even more problems. When contacting the branch manager, Vanessa, about it, she essentially said she didn't want to deal with it and it wasn't her job, despite her telling us

SAFE used to be good. But recently they've gone from being a friendly, local CU to corporate hell. And good luck trying to get your money out, once they've gotten hold of it.
They'll tell you it'll be no problem to wire or ACH, when you need it. But when it comes time to do the transaction, well, they won't wire xfer, even between financial… institutions, unless it's to close on a house. And ACH has a limit of $5K per day.
It's 2021. When I want to buy a car, I shouldn't have to drive to a shared branch, have a physical check cut, then hand-deliver said check, just to xfer money between

Wished I would have read reviews prior to attempting to open an account at this credit union. The customer service was terrible. After wasting 15 minutes of my time with them I realized if this is how you treat your potential customers I can't even imagine how I would be treated once I gave them my business.

Update - I posted this review, after trying hard to connect with their so called leadership and corporate through their Customer Care, to resolve the matters. Result - Nothing. Just Customer 'No Care'. They respond to online reviews 'Please contact us at this number blah blah, just another facade to cover their tainted and cheap gimmicks. This Credit Union entity is sleazy. I firmly believe now, the name Safe is simply for branding purposes and to deceive and manipulate people's psychology. They are not upfront about things. Genuinely disgusting!! I have been with this credit union for 21 years. The first 10 were great.. then, something happened. I started being charged for overdraft fees when I had a savings account used for overdraft protection. Somehow, someone deactivated it. They would not reverse the fees. I went to 3 different locations after "it was fixed", it never was. They would not give me proof they set it up. Later I went to return a money order that I had bought for $200 and didn't need it. They told me they wouldn't do it. At this point I had been with them for 20 years. I am well aware they can stamp

Ok. So 95 percent of my banking I do at the ATM
I work off hours so I need a reliable ATM this branch is the closest to my house. 6 trips to this branch in the last month I run into "ATM temp unavailable" or "not acceptIng deposits". I'm done with Safe!!!!!!! "DONE!!!!!

You don't want to use this bank if you travel internationally. I had a frustrating experience when I traveled to Kenya and SAFE put a hold on my account/ debut debit card and so I had no access to my funds. This is after I'd personally gone into a branch and alerted them where I'd be traveling to and even provided travel dates. To make matters worse, I was traveling with my child. They ruined my vacay. Several calls and instant messaging yielded no results.

We applied for a mortgage loan, the rates were fluctuating on a daily basis. We asked that they lock in our rate but got no response for a couple of days. Suddenly, when the rates go up, they called back and locked in the highest rate that week 0.75% higher than when we asked them to lock. They said we could pay $500 to float the rate down if it goes back down. I tried to call again when the rates went down but got no response. I'm never dealing with them again, so shady.

This is why I stopped being a member a decade ago. Worst customer service on the planet and incredibly incompetent employees, You don't take lunch at a bank when the public takes lunch from 12-1pm. Two tellers during lunch rush. Joke!

I accidentally did online bill pay n my bank cut these guys a check for a auto loan that had been closed for over 2 years. I call to get my eta on reimbursement and they are refusing to give me the funds they say the never received anything from me and I told them I have proof they cashed it from my bank. I am still fighting with them about this it's been over a week already and still nothing.... I have talked to so many people mostly are rude as hell except Megan n Justin. But no payment and no one has called to let me know what is going on. Just holding my money hostage

I have a car loan with these guys and THEY messed up the DMV paperwork and then they call and leave me a threatening message. They stole money from my daughter's college savings and applied it to my up to date car loan. I'll be contacting the BBB and FTC. They should be ashamed of themselves.

This is the absolute worst bank I've ever dealt with. And that includes larger corporate banks. I have my auto loan with this bank. I'm paying my car off and need to get my payment history. The online statements only go back 3 years. I called customer service because they must have a quick report they can run. This has been the hardest thing to get. A simple payment history. They wanted to charge me to send me each statement. Then wanted me to drive to Sacramento (I live in the Bay Area) to pick up the payment history. I finally got thru to someone who was willing to send it to me. Twice

I created an account here on Yelp to warn others about banking with Safe Credit Union. I signed up at a college for their Perfect Cents checking program because of a promotional $100 bonus offer. One month in and everything is fine. No problems to report.

However, after the first month things started to change. The first thing I noticed on my monthly statements were small $2 fees for being "inactive" with their Online Bill Pay. After several stop ins here over the past two years I couldn't help but write a heads up hoping someone reads this and makes a change.

This place really needs to do something about their terribly slow ATM. I understand the importance of security but having to put in your pin for every action item is overkill. Not only that but this place forms a line every time. So hope you're not looking for a convenient quick stop at the ATM here.

Being on a busy intersection like 65th and Folsom, you'd imagine plenty of traffic at this location so either get a second machine or fix

It was being renovated at the time on the inside. They made slight changes. Everytime I come here, the lines are not so bad. The tellers are extremely nice and They do exactly what a bank does. Everything you need!

Im not really sure how to rate a bank.

The interior was clean and well maintained. I like this place.

I got a call from Visa Fraud protection about some suspicious purchases. Usually they call me because I went on a bender at Anthropologie but this time it was legitimate; some a-hole stole my credit card information.

My card was cancelled so I had to go into the bank to get some cash. The teller offered to print me a new card. I thought I would have to wait for a new card to be mailed but they were able to do it right then and there. They also shredded my old card for me.

I wouldn't have thought of getting a card at the bank and I appreciated that they brought it up. That's great customer

I have been with Safe for a long time, it was my first bank, which I left after a couple years and then eventually went back to. I have been going to this location for over a year now and have gotten used to the wait time of about 10 minutes every time I go but every once in a while there is no line and I can breeze in and out.

Initially, I was a bit hesitant about this branch because when I went into reactivate my account with a new card, the branch manager was condescending to me but I don't see her there anymore anyway. But I liked this place because of the convenience and the other nice
