Judo can be an intense sport, a wonderful form of exercise, and can be adapted to serve as an effective form of self-defense. In creating Judo, Kano drew techniques from Jiu Jitsu that could be safely used and subscribed to the principle of Seiryoku-Zenyo, meaning maximum efficiency through minimum effort.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art focusing largely on grappling and ground fighting. It utilizes natural body leverage and proper technique to obtain dominant control on the ground and, as a result, provides greater position for striking or submission holds.
BJJ has been proven, when used properly, to be an effective method for dealing with bigger and stronger opponents and has become increasingly popular due in part to its great success in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.It can be trained for self defense, sport grappling (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts competition and has found its way into the training regiment of nearly every successful martial artist worldwide.

You may already know that judo is a martial art originally created in Japan. What separates judo from other martial arts like karate or tae kwon do, however, is that judo is designed specifically with sport competition in mind.
Whereas sparring in other martial arts generally requires use of pads and other protective equipment or light contact (pulling of punches or kicks), judo techniques can be performed at full speed and full force while maintaining safety.Judo in Japanese means "the gentle way, " and is known as such because many of the techniques in judo rely on giving way to the force of your opponent.

Great instructors and people. My son and I have been training at Teo's bjj for a couple of months now and wonderful things are happening. I mean, many times you get to have 6-7+ black belts on the mats. Not only that, but the quality of bjj knowledge your mind absorbs is mind blowing. We have world class athletes like Prof. Alan Teo, Jamie Cruz, Rick, Sideco Honor, Lincoln Pereira, Derrick Doyle, Clark Ayala, just to mention a few. I mean it is really impressive to see so many different styles you can choose from to incorporate them into your game. Fort Lee and Woodland Park academies are excellent

I have trained at many academies, and have never been in a nicer, classier facility. The stunning facility is only surpassed by the quality of instruction found here. Alan Teo is a first class instructor and stand up guy. He has handpicked a variety of instructor who are not only world-class practitioners of BJJ, but are talented instructors. This is often a hard combination to find. The members of the academy are warm and welcoming to all. There is a large range of talent and ranks found here. For a newer school, it is a nice surprise to find so many higher ranks (who are very helpful!). The children

5 stars, A++
As a person, Alan is one of the greatest/kindest/friendliest people I've ever met. As an instructor, he's top notch. Extremely high attention to detail and incredibly technical, he notices the small details, and gives you advice that takes your game to the next level.
His credentials are as legit as you can get, 2nd Degree Black Belt under the legendary Renzo Gracie. There's no pretense at the school; Alan rolls with ___everyone___.
Do yourself a favor and check it out!
