Dental sedation is an increasingly popular option for our busy patients, patients who have difficulty getting numb, have a severe gag reflex and for patients with dental related fear or extreme dental anxiety (also sometimes called dentophobia or odontophobia). In cases where patients opt for oral dental sedation, your sedation dentist will typically give you a medication to take an hour before your procedure.

Oral sedation dentistry is a great option for patients with mild to moderate levels of dental anxiety. It does not involve IVs and sets in slowly and profoundly. Oral sedation is performed most often by swallowing a pill or placing a medication under the tongue. The most common pills in the dental office is Halcion and Valium.

I was super nervous about getting my wisdom teeth taken out! Glad I found Dr. Adams at Maryland Sedation Dentist. I definitely need to be put to sleep for most dental treatment. He did a really good job explaining what to expect during and after the procedure- I appreciate his straightforward approach. Dr. Adams and his team did great job! Thank you guys!

I am not usually too nervous about medical procedures, but I cannot stand needles in my mouth. Since I had been dodging the dentist for a few years, I had a laundry list of dental work I needed done. Dr. Adams completed all my work in one sedation dentist visit. I really do not remember anything other than getting the IV inserted. I can't thank the staff enough for making my experience so easy and comfortable.

Having been through more than 15 dental surgeries without IV sedation, I arrived at Natural Dentists to start treatment with Dr Baer. I decided to try IV sedation because I was, quite frankly, sick of sitting through surgeries and becoming more rather than less anxious relative to a pain syndrome. My history of difficult recovery from anesthesia did concern my a little. The first thing I noted, being an experienced IV RN and phlebotomist, is that Dr Baer’s IV insertion skills are top tier! I felt completely safe and cared for by the entire team. The next thing I knew, I was awake!! I have now

I have so much anxiety going to the dentist, it's embarrassing!! For a while I had a root canal tooth that was hurting me and I kept putting off going to the dentist because I was too scared! Finally, I couldn't take the pain anymore and thankfully I found these guys. They used laughing gas on me (which didn't make me laugh) but it did make me completely relaxed and before I knew it they were done. Unfortunately I need a lot more work since I've neglected my mouth for so long :( I'm coming back to see Dr. Baer next month and will be put to sleep with the IV sedation for that. Still super scared
