At Dr. Camps Pediatric Dental Center we are committed to educating both parents and patients in dental hygiene. We strive to treat each patient and parent as we would our own family members. Removing tooth decay and placing the appropriate restoration, composite fillings, crowns, root canals, nerve treatments, and extractions.
Services
Dr. Robert D. Camps has been a pediatric dentist for over 33 years. As a graduate of Howard University, Dr. Camps went on to specialize in pediatric dentistry for two additional years. He has also held a position as an assistant professor at HU's College of Dentistry teaching interceptive and early orthodontic treatment to pediatric post-graduate students.
Your baby should be seen by a pediatric dentist when they have 2 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth or by age 1, whichever comes first. Together we can prevent dental disease in children. The first step is early intervention. You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. Your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and his staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions.
Appointments - We ask that if an appointment must be canceled we ask you give us at least a 24 hours notice. Missed appointments and same day cancellations will be assessed a $50.00 fee. We understand unexpected issues may rise, however, the more notice given the better we can care for our patients.
For information on special oral health care needs, we've provided links to the following sites:. One serious form of decay among young children is baby bottle tooth decay. This condition is caused by frequent and long exposures of an infant's teeth to liquids that contain sugar. Among these liquids are milk (including breast milk), formula, fruit juice and other sweetened drinks.
Your child should visit the dentist by his/her 1st birthday. You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. Your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and his staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions. The less to-do concerning the visit, the better.

Dr. Camps office has taken COVID protocols to another level. The entire staff including the front office and hygienists have gone above and beyond to ensure the kids and parents are safe and socially distanced. This is our 2nd time here since COVID quarantine began. My child has been a patient since 2 yrs old and now as a 14 year old. Jhynelle and Dr. Fields are her favorite.

I had a really good experience today when my sons braces wire broke and started scratching him. Very responsive and efficient service - squeezing us in and taking of things perfectly. Thank you so much!!!!

Camps Pediatric Dental is amazing with kids from one year on! My son has been coming every six months since we moved here at 3. The techs are awesome with him and talk him through the process. Everyone is helpful and they make the kids so comfortable.

The doctors here are super friendly which makes going to the dentist easy with kids. The kids actually like going to the dentist which I never did. They send reminders for the appt which always help. The kids get a little toy at the end which they are always excited for. And they just make going to the dentist was still, which is great when you have kids.

Dr. Acosta is amazing. I took my daughter who has autism in this morning for her first dentist appointment. She was very personable and sweet. Also she has personal experience dealing with a child with special needs so she was able to give great advice. We will definitely be going back.

So we just came back from our routine cleaning exam and I might be now looking for a different center. I have a special needs child and Dr. Gavin was dismissive and did not feel like doing a proper cleaning for the child since she was not easy (not cooperative)... She just said all looks fine while my child's teeth had a lot of yellow plaque. She did do the cleaning upon my request but since my daughter was battling the procedure it was not done properly and some yellow plaque remains. I guess bad teeth are OK if you are a special needs child?? Dr. Gavin couldn't care less. Dr. Gavin

All of these negative reviews remind me so much of our own experience, when we were told our son needed a root canal at the age of 4. Two doctors were contradicting each other to me about how much medicine to give him Ahead of the appointment. We gave the Lower of the two doses that the doctors recommended. Dr Camps got involved in the procedure and then announced that he could not work with our child and we left. Never came back! You don't need to take your child to "Disneyland" for dental work. A kind, compassionate dentist can do the trick at a lower price. I really felt like

I have been taking my 4 children there for about a year. My seven year old had a spacer put in the back of her mouth where her molar, the first time we took her to get it put in it was put in, in the wrong position so they rescheduled us so a different dentist could put the spacer in correctly. We missed the appointment because we had a family emergency come up and couldn't make it. So we rescheduled the appointment and my daughter was very nervous and they didn't finish the work in her mouth. I another appointment today for them to finish the work I got stuck in morning traffic and I

Cannot say enough good things about this place. Yes it is super busy and always full of patients but the time spent is quick and efficient.

They treat the children like small adults and reward them for good behaviors with a rewards card which means my daughter keeps the card in a safe place and remembers to bring it back all while looking forward to ACTUALLY going to the dentist which is a trouble for some adults (like me!). We are working towards earning a gift card!

The Front Desk staff is great and they seem to be on top of what they are doing which isnt always easy. Marvin is a welcoming

Had been going there for a few years, today I had an appointment for 2 kids at the same time.
I would like to say thank to Dr. Saffie that did a wonderful job on the fill of a cavity of my 9yr old girl that had a hard time in the process... She was very kind and helping to calm my daughter while working on her tooth. I'm very happy with the staff. Over all a very good experience, will defiantly recommend to other parents!

Fun for kids, Miserable for parents!

Dr Camps is an impersonal and unprofessional factory. It does a good job of creating a fun environment for kids, but fails in every other respect. We have never seen the same dentist twice and they have all disagreed on treatments. There is absolutely NO continuity of care. The staff is rude to parents and unhelpful and unwilling to provide detailed information regarding your children's teeth.

The dentists we have met with over a 3 year stint have never spent more than 5minutes with any of our children.

In particular, Maria Martins, their hospital

The only reason I didn't give this dental office more stars was the long wait to be called back. Although they let me know after arriving that they were behind "a couple of minutes" that turned into a 45 minute wait. Once called back, we were seen immediately.

The staff from the beginning was very friendly. I haven't been completely turned off from this facility but I hope the next time I don't have to spend as much twiddling my thumbs. I could tell by the amount of families in the lobby that the dentist here have a good reputation. One of the staff told me that once

All 3 of my kids go to Dr Camps. They are the nicest people. There's a employee at the door that checks you in and you never have to wait long in the waiting room to be seen. When my toddler chipped his tooth, he was able to get a appointment right away and thank goodness his tooth is ok!

I highly recommend this place because they are professional, friendly, and quick!

I came to this dentist expecting good things based on the yelp reviews however left disappointed and have not been back. I took my 4 1/2 year old here for an annual check up knowing that he had a cavity between his two front teeth. His last dentist said that because he was older that we would just wait until they fell out on their own. The dentist who saw us here wanted to take a very aggressive treatment plan and do a double root canal. On both front teeth! Mind you these are baby teeth. The dentist said that they had to fill them or else the root would absorb incorrectly(!). She also said

Staff is super friendly no complaints there but waiting 28 minutes to be seen is too darn long for me. I rushed to make it ontime but next appointment in 6 months I'll take my merry ole time and they better see me.

Clean office.

I filled out all the needed information ahead of time to be seen at my schedule time but that didn't help. I still had to wait 28 minutes w/o any apologies for their tardiness when i got called back to the room
