Creative solutions to address the unique conditions common in single-family homes. Coordination with architect to ensure that project requirements are met. Structural drawings as required for permitting and construction including structural specifications and notes, framing plans, lateral bracing plans, and sections.
Structural design services were provided for a two-story addition to an existing rowhouse with a rooftop terrace and a covered garage structure. Structural design services were provided for a 7,500 square foot two story single-family home with a full basement and rooftop patio. Structural design services were provided for the renovation of and addition to an existing 4-unit condominium building.

Ben Harrison was recommended to me by one of his clients who did a major kitchen renovation in Adams Morgan. I choose Ben based on this recommendation, and his experience with old townhouses in DC. We worked together via e-mail to draw up a contract, and planned for a site visit at his earliest availability. When an earlier date opened up in his schedule, Ben offered me the option of the new date instead.

We had an amazing experience working with Ben on our project. We needed to remove a load bearing wall between our kitchen and living room. I must have called 10 engineers to assess the project. Many were rude and acted like they were so busy that I was wasting their time. Ben was so responsive, kind, and helpful. He was realistic about the time frame in which he could complete drawings and was even able to fit us in a few weeks early when he had a cancellation. Ben Designed a Pavilion project for me and did a fantastic job at a reasonable price. The design documents he provided were build ready and he provided multiple options of lumber and fastener options which allowed me to source materials with multiple pricing options to determine the approach that fit my budget and goals. I needed help with many of my roof trusses in my home that were compromised with water and carpenter ants. Ben did a professional analysis and determined very quickly what would be needed to structurally restore the trusses to their original strength.
