Thatcher Hotel
A haven from the hustle and bustle of city life located in Hopland, California, a small town at the southern tip of Mendocino County, the Thatcher is surrounded by the iconic, rolling Northern California hills and the poetic Russian River landscape. Listen for owls, bike alongside vineyards, dip into the river, or simply rest your feet and enjoy a cup of coffee in our historic library.

Wherever you're headed or if this is your destination, come stay a while. From the copper steeple, curated library, and custom handmade furniture to the iconic bar, rotating art, and expansive outdoor courtyard, our restored Victorian hotel was established in 1890 by founder and pioneer William Thatcher and is now reinvented as the eponymous Thatcher Hotel.
Services
Modern interiors compliment the impressive historic bones of the building, with rooms featuring hardwood floors, concrete sinks, minimalist furniture, organic cotton sheets, and gorgeous textiles. Public spaces, rooms, and amenities offer a true respite from the busyness of daily living. Our warm staff welcomes locals and travelers alike.
The Thatcher offers a variety of room types to serve every type of visitor we're fortunate enough to host. Grand corner room with sitting lounge, king bed, writing desk, large modern bathroom with walk-in shower. Windows with views of the hills. Located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Approximately 600 sq ft.
CAFE POPPY invites locals and travelers alike to take a break morning or afternoon to enjoy coffee, tea, fresh pastries, and savory & sweet toast. Our porch counters made by a local artisan Ben Frye are the perfect spot to hang around and watch travelers on the 101 slow down to the pace of small-town life.
Situated amongst the oak-covered rolling foothills of Northern California, Hopland sits on the west bank of the Russian River and serves as a gateway to the Redwoods of Northern California and the Emerald Triangle. Here you'll find vineyards, ranches, and farmland alongside wineries, antique shops, and a rich local culture.
We have paired up with Hog Island Oysters, our favorite B Corp Farmers to welcome the delights of summer. Supper will include 6 Hog Island oysters (barbecued or raw), seasonal salad, elote corn, fresh fruit, a sweet dessert bite, and a glass of our Campovida summer sangria. Additional Oysters, Thatcher cocktails, and Campovida wine will be available for purchase.

Would have loved to stay, we were just passing through. I love to research my last name Thatcher. We're from South Texas, I was checking up on my dad back home, and he reminded me of the Thatcher ranch, so when I goggled the name that's the first thing that came out Thatcher hotel, we were just 9 minutes away from it. My hubby didn't even hesitate, he knows I would love it, beautiful place. As I walked in the entrance were two people who greeted me with a big hi 👋 and a smile. That made me feel welcomed. Looked family oriented. I loved it. 😍♥

This hotel is extremely nice. Perhaps the best description is boutique meets chic. The rooms are elegant, and their spaces have an open design. The hotel lobby is a great place for visiting and conversation. Their coffee bar is complete with pastries and lattes. Local wine tasting and restaurants are all within walking distance. This hotel can be a great start or end to your Mendocino wine tasting tour. It can also be a great local getaway for a romantic date.

Thatcher's beautifully renovated historical building in the heart of town was the perfect place to stay in Hopland. Friendly staff, tasty food and drinks, great outdoor firepit and pool, and comfy beds and pillows made my experience top notch. I'd happily stay here again!

This looks like such a lovely property. Unfortunately I went in to eat and found the servicemembers to be pretty rude. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money. There are plenty of other options in Hopland with friendly service

We just stopped in for a drink and a tour...very impressed. If you love books, board games, and fire places and fine leather couches, you've got to check it out. Rooms start at $150, they have a small venue out to the side, library, and a small cafe, but good restaurants within walking. We toured the downstairs room which was perfectly staged in a warm and cozy farm/industrial vibe. Dont be fooled by the suuper "clean" vibe of the bar...it is fully loaded!! The staff is very friendly. Walk down to golden pig or stock farm for very yummy food.

We had the opportunity to stay at this hotel (our first since COVID) and it could not have been a better experience. The hotel is located on a super cute street with shops and food nearby, but you really don't need to leave the hotel since it has so much available on the property. There's a little food and coffee shop on the ground floor, a library room for lounging, and an outdoor fire pit area that can seat about 10 people. We didn't go in the pool, but it looked great.

We had a room on the third floor that was very spacious, and the two beds were extremely comfortable. Thanks

We luckily stayed at this hotel last weekend and had such a memorable time. The hotel itself feels historic (built in the 1800's?), the rooms are spacious along with the bathrooms, it feels uncluttered and well done all around. Separately, the staff is impeccably lovely and we had well-made craft cocktails out in the private back patio. Overall an enthusiastic recommend and we Weill be returning

Beautiful renovated hotel. If we ever stay here again I would definitely bring ear plugs. Sometimes you can hear cars going by on the highway and for some reason the wall to the bathroom was rattling most of the night.

This hotel was so incredible! The hotel has been very tastefully remodeled with modern decor and a super chill vibe. The amenities were top notch with great food and beverages, beautiful grounds, lovely fire pits and an amazing pool. The staff were all super friendly and did so much to make this a pleasant and relaxing visit. It was our first time traveling since Covid-19 and the hotel made me feel as safe as possible. The social distancing, mask-wearing and disinfecting policy is very thorough. Can't wait to be back and I believe it will only get better when we get past this virus situation

What a special place! We recently stayed the night at this hotel that is recently renovated and truly BEAUTIFUL. It's clear that they spared no expense or attention to detail in their refresh of this historic building. Service was warm and friendly and the room was chic and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed and huge bathroom. We spent an evening at one of the cozy fire pits outside. They were taking COVID precautions very seriously. We'll definitely be back!

Terrible Service - AND we didn't even get to stay there!

My wife and I were planning on traveling out [~4hrs] to visit my Dad for his Birthday. Initially we were planning on staying at the Tallman Hotel , which we've stayed at before and really like it. Unfortunately they were closed due to COVID-19 [they clearly state this on their website]. We searched for another hotel and The Thatcher Hotel popped up - looks kinda similar to the Tallman in age, style and character, albeit double the price! Also, when we searched for availability it showed as available. What the heck we thought,

We recently stayed at this historic hotel (February 2020), that was recently reopened (Fall 2019). Perfect location, modern and spacious room, cute bar/lobby and cafe, very clean, very old library and outdoor fire pits! Walking distance to many tasting rooms, bars, a taproom, restaurants, etc. A perfect weekend getaway. Jake, the manager, is very friendly, welcoming, accommodating and full of energy! Would definitely recommend!
