Your eye works a lot like a camera. Light rays focus through your cornea and lens onto the retina, a layer of light-sensitive cells at the back of the eye. Similar to photographic film, the retina allows the image to be "seen" by the brain. Cataract is an opacity or clouding of the normally clear lens inside the eye, and is the leading cause of vision loss among adults age 60 or older.
A complete eye examination does more than determine how clearly you see and which lens prescription, if necessary, will give you the best possible vision. Your Ophthalmologist will also evaluate the health and function of your entire eye. This is a non-contact retinal scanning device used to study the anatomy of the retina and optic nerve, and takes a few minutes.
Hoyt Eye Care Center is happy to offer the services of an optical shop to our patients and to the public. As with all the services we provide, the quality of care you receive is our focus. Whether you need new eyeglasses for everyday living, new sunglasses, or glasses for specific tasks such as for the computer, the Optical Shop's optician will spend time with you to help you choose eyewear that meets your needs and is best for you.
