My father followed in his footsteps working with many of the most respected developers and architects in our industry. For over 30 years, we have delivered innovative projects in the LA area for top designers, architects and developers. In case you haven't noticed yet, we sway towards black and white. We love the contrast it affords us as a medium, as well as both the depth & originality it affords to bring a new take on what was already experienced with the eyes previously.
The clean, straightforward modern architecture of this project featured an expansive, 3-foot separation between each unit, resulting in five free-standing buildings that capture light and air on three of four sides rather than the more traditional two. The design included 2-bedroom, 2-bath residences with private 2-car garages and a large roof deck/patio.
For the exterior update of this 1949 home (originally designed by S. Graham Latta), anthracite and cream colored cement board cladding was used to accentuate the bold new soffits, overhangs, and garage door, architecturally framing the redwood siding and defining the home's overall form. Pecan shell blasting restored the beauty of the original redwood siding without damaging it.

When my wife, Ann, and I purchased a 1949 Modern Home in Cheviot Hills, we inherited a large backyard and a 30'x 35' badminton court that was past its prime. At the time, our young son, Reiss needed his own stimulating "habitat, " so we asked our dear friend and architect, Rick Leslie, to help us re-purpose an area of our yard into an inspiring playset for our growing boy.
