Services
Lee S. Ashmore is a Brunswick divorce attorney whose practice has been devoted to family law for 20 years. He is a family law specialist who has developed his expertise in family law by litigating over 500 family law cases in the courts, as well as negotiating and drafting hundreds of settlement agreements.
If initial negotiations fail, it may be necessary to begin a contested case in superior court. 1. Think carefully about what you are trying to achieve. What outcome would you like to see happen? What outcome would you accept? Can you realistically achieve a better outcome than the other party is offering in settlement?
Separation and divorce involves tax issues. Here is a summary of the notable issues that arise. Prior to engaging in negotiations for a separation agreement, you should review the tax implications with a Brunswick divorce lawyer and a certified public accountant. You should learn the actual, bottom line cost of the various choices, so that you know how much you are gaining or losing from the choices being negotiated.
Surprisingly, the Georgia Domestic Relations Code says very little about division of marital property. The Code provides only one sentence, "The verdict of the jury disposing of the property in a divorce case shall be carried into effect by the court by entering such judgment or decree or taking such other steps as are usual in the exercise of the court's equitable powers to execute effectually and fully the jury's verdict."
If agreement cannot be reached the judge will follow a two step process for determining custody of the children. First, if any of the children are 14 years of ago or older they can choose their own physical custody arrangement. Their choice will be adopted by the court unless the court decides that it is not in their best interest.

Highly would not recommend! Poor correspondence prior to my case being being heard. Then had to practically beg Mr. Ashmore to present my case in front of the judge due to him not wanting to present my case/settle with the opposing attorney. Provided poor representation in court. Fast forward to about 2 months after my court case and Mr Ashmore being relieved of his services, he still hasn’t refunded me the remainder of my unused retainer. Thinking of filling a formal complaint. Take my advice and look elsewhere if seeking legal counsel.
