Third generation pharmacist and owner of Maida Pharmacy Compounding and Wellness, Lawrence Maida graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences in 1988. As a young man, Lawrence spent much of his time at Maida Pharmacy assisting his father and grandfather. He naturally developed an appreciation for the community a neighborhood pharmacy can foster, and the responsibility a pharmacist has towards this community.
Ensuring every medication compounded at Maida Pharmacy is of unquestionable quality is our priority. In addition to strict oversight from the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy, we have gone above and beyond by becoming accredited by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB), a third party giving their seal of approval to compounding pharmacies maintaining and improving the profession's highest standards.
I was going through menopause and could not use conventional hormone replacement. My symptoms were very severe. I had hot flashes constantly, mood swings, and I couldn't sleep at night. I was having difficulty concentrating and I lacked energy. My doctor recommended bioidentical hormones as an alternative to conventional treatment, and it turned out to be a "miracle."
Throughout a lifetime, women face unique health challenges. At Maida Pharmacy Compounding and Wellness, we personalize medications to address these challenges. One of the more common forms of personalized treatment involves replacement of the bodies naturally recognized hormones (referred to as bioidentical hormone replacement).
Pain is complex. For most patient's, successful pain management is a difficult task. Left untreated pain can evolve into chronic, debilitating conditions. However, many of the medications used to treat pain have concerning side-effects. Maida Pharmacy Compounding and Wellness understands the complications associated with pain management.

Excellent pharmacy for my cat's steroids; Larry was so kind to ask what was going on with my cat and make some recommendations of what I could try in addition to her steroids to help with her liver inflammation. They also have some great cat-friendly flavor options. It's great to feel so cared about as a customer!

Maida pharmacy is my first experience with a compounding pharmacy. Mr. Miada and his staff were attentive and took the time to go over the medication with me, answering some questions I had. A month later I called to refill the prescription and was taken care of promptly. The were able to mail my prescription quickly saving me a trip. Needless to say I’ve had a great experience with them and would highly recommend going there.

Larry Maida is such a valuable part of the local community. He has owned this pharmacy for decades and when CVS was gobbling up all the local pharmacies or putting them out of business, he got creative and learned the world of compounding. He shares his business with his son, also a pharmacist, who shares the same customer-focused, gentle, professional manner as his father. If Maida Pharmacy were a publicly held company, I would encourage everyone i know to invest in them. They have already invested in us.

This pharmacy is a rare and true gem. I was visiting from the west coast and required a specialized prescription that Walgreen's was unable to fill. I was referred to Maida and Larry quickly filled my prescription (a mouthwash) on a Friday and was kind to ask what flavor I wanted and provide me with a smaller bottle I could take through TSA. Since then, I have had trouble submitting the claim to my insurance, and both Larry and Angelo were incredibly helpful in providing proper paperwork. I only wish I had a pharmacy like this in my area.

Larry has always been very helpful in advising about my health issues throughout the years. I had a persistent infection for which he compounded a cream which was exactly what was needed to clear up the situation. I appreciate that he continually educates himself about new trends in natural remedies and that he insists that they be backed by scientific evidence. Much success to Larry and staff into the future!

I know people who think well of Maida pharmacy, but my experience there was horrible. I had been using Armour thyroid (natural desiccated pig thyroid), for several years, and preferred it to Synthroid and other T4 only forms of thyroid supplementation. A few years ago Armour became difficult to obtain, and also changed its formulation, which meant that I and many others sought out a compounded form of thyroid similar to Armour. I was practically out of of the medication when I went to Maida to order it, so I placed the order even though they refused to give me even a ballpark price at the time

I am so impressed with this little pharmacy. I never want to go back to CVS or Walgreens ever again.
My doctor prescribed something that had to be handled by a compounding pharmacy, and directed me to Maida. The pharmacist was very thorough and considerate. He asked me specific questions about my health to help inform his choices. He's clearly a smart and careful person.
I picked up my prescription last night, and today I got a call from the pharmacist to check on me. What incredible care!
Two considerations for those considering a compounding pharmacy. Drugs that have to be mixed like this

This is one of the last real neighborhood drugstores, just down the street from yet another soulless CVS. Little wooden drawers and shelves behind the counter, a pay-to-weigh scale, your grandmother's radio music quietly playing, 1950's prices. The lead pharmacist (and owner) and his small staff are consummate professionals, and the wonderful woman behind the counter always remembers my name! Much smaller and less well-stocked than the chain stores, Mr. Maida still has a troupe of loyal customers (including myself). Don't miss this opportunity to experience things the way they were

The pharmacist here was so great! My partner needed crutches for a sprained ankle and they sold us wooden ones, which are apparently not as trendy as the aluminum ones, at a major discount and well less than half the price that local chain drugstores were charging for the cheapest crutches. He gave us some advice about how to care for the sprain, including that we should go to a chain drugstore to buy the best ankle brace because they didn't have it in stock. That says a lot about an unbiased opinion. I found a nice Mother's Day card and a hilarious birthday card that looked a little
