Adversities was everywhere: Banks weren't lending, shippers weren't shipping and the industry laughed and thought we were a big joke. With Ni's strong determination and seed money from Ni's parent's 401k, Jade persisted and grew and grew and grew. Along the way Jade won awards and recognition in local publications.
Once upon a grim time at the tail end of the Vietnam War, the youngest of four children, Ni Suphavong, was born in Laos. The near existence was in a chaotic mess. Bloodshed overflowed the countryside. Wanting to find a better life, my family had to leave every possession behind. We sought safety with relatives in Thailand.
