The Business was established in 1882 by S. E. Paine providing undertaking/ambulance service and furniture sales on West Main Street in downtown Orwell. During that era funeral services and calling hours were held at the local churches or families residence. In 1926 the business relocated to its current location on 140 E. Main Street under the direction of Clarence E. Paine.
The Funeral Home was built in the late 1800's and is a colonial style setting. The interior setting is the old traditional style with custom vintage oak woodwork, which gives an elegant comfortable feeling. Many visitors enjoy the custom craftsmanship of the old pocket doors. The design of the home allow visitors and family members to visit in one of the family or sitting rooms with out disturbing the main visitation and greeting area.
When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make the decisions? The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires. Pre-arranging your own service will help to ease the burden of your loved ones. It will also alleviate any questions, problems or differences, which can occur among family members.
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
