Amelia has been an outpatient therapist in State College since 2009, when she graduated with a masters of social work from Temple University. She was a founding practitioner of the Individual and Family CHOICES Program. Prior to 2009, she was a counselor and clinical director at Stormbreak Youth Program, working with adolescents and their families.
If you have any questions or to schedule an appointment, please contact either of them directly at their phone number or e-mail. When considering neurofeedback services for a child, an initial appointment will usually be scheduled alone with the parents/guardians to discuss concerns and assess whether neurofeedback would be a helpful treatment option.
McGinnis Counseling and Consulting is located on the second floor of the historic Lemont House in the village of Lemont, about 2 miles from Penn State's University Park Campus. Enter the back of the building and follow the main staircase to the second floor. Our waiting room is down the narrow hallway on your right.
Rates vary depending on the type of services offered and are in the typical range for mental health services in central Pennsylvania. Ask for details when scheduling your appointment. Insurance eligibility confirmation may be requested prior to initial appointment or during the intake appointment. Please note that not all insurances cover the codes used for Neurofeedback services.
Currently, no insurance consistently covers neurofeedback (also known as neurotherapy or biofeedback) therapy. Many people pay out of pocket for these services. If it is covered under Medical Services, do I need a prescription or letter from my MD to say it is medically necessary? Do I need to send the letter before I see the biofeedback therapist or can it go in with the first bill?
