The GWL staff were friendly and welcoming at checkin, and checkout was easy as leaving the keys in a drop box. We will definitely stay with GWL again. We stayed in the condo for 5 days with our two young children during a ski trip and it worked great! We were able to easily walk the kids to the Peak 9 ski school with all their gear!

Great Western Lodging (GWL) was founded in May of 1997 by Chad Christy. Our core management team has over 75 years of collective experience in the Breckenridge vacation rental & property management market. Our goal has always been to be the best, not the largest. Since we have always focused on quality over quantity, we annually turn down 4-5 times the management opportunities that we accept.
Staying at a ski-in/ski-out vacation rental in Breckenridge is a very convenient way to easily access the ski lifts during a winter season stay. Ski-in/ski-out means that you can strap into your skis or snowboard within very close proximity of your rental and access a run and/or a ski lift. This allows you and your party to quickly be on the slopes without the hassle of taking a shuttle, bus or walking.
Breckenridge is a unique ski town due to how close downtown Breckenridge is to the ski resort. Our downtown vacation rentals allow you to quickly access Breckenridge Main Street, as well as the Breck Connect free Gondola that provides quick access to Peak 7 and 8 for skiing. Below, check out our vacation rentals located on or close to Main Street Breckenridge.

We stayed here this week, Riverbend Unit 216. The unit was 55 degrees when we arrived and took 12 hours to warm up to 70 degrees with the heat turned up and fireplace on. The entry door has no barrier to prevent the cold from coming underneath so we had to fold up a rug and block out the cold.
The biggest problem we had is the emergency alarm that went off THREE times yesterday! The fire department shut it off the first time within 15-20 minutes. Then it went off again and alarmed for 45 minutes!! We called management and were told someone was on their way. Then it went off again when we were

STAY AWAY from this company and their properties. We stayed last week at one of their properties, 51 Tall Pines, and it was awful. The beds were miserable, stale Cheerios were found in the blankets, other blankets were sticky, there were no spatulas to make breakfast, and the water pipes sound like you are in a war zone. When complaints were made to the Great Western Lodge, the lady in the office said I should be happy to have warm water and heat. I would never recommend this property or this company to anyone.

BEWARE! Paid in full for the reservation months in advance only for them to cancel the reservation 2 weeks before check in. Didn't get an apology. It was absurd. They didn't even try accommodating us with another unit, just sent us on our way to fend for ourselves even though we paid in full and had a contract in place. I hope readers are able to recognize from all the 1 star reviews that this is a shady company that should be avoided at all costs.

Great Western Lodging use to be very accommodating and a great vacation rental property. There must have been a change in ownership or management, because they are awful to work with now. We have a trip planned for December to go skiing and there is no snow. We called and asked to move our dates around to a later date and the agent was absolutely a nasty and would not budge. He has no value in customer service. Just wants your money. We tried to explain that you can not go skiing with no snow. Their cancellation policy is outrageous. IT IS 30 DAYS BEFORE YOUR CHECK IN DATE AND NO REFUND WHATSOEVER

We have worked w GWL for decades and they have always come through for us w lodging and w help when travel plans have been challenging at unexpected times…I almost hesitate to share as I fear that if word gets out we won’t be able to keep them to ourselves for years to come…thanks guys for going above and beyond year after year. The Cons: The rooms are very outdated for the price, the view is NOTHING like the picture. You can slightly see the mountains from the hot tub on a very clear day. The beds are ROCK HARD. The room had literally everything you need EXCEPT a can opener which I found out as I was cooking thanksgiving dinner and there was no where open to buy one. The floors and walls are nasty with black marks like they haven’t been cleaned in years. For $250+ a night I’d at least expect breakfast from a place. There are no workers on site at all. The walls are paper thin, we heard a baby crying until midnight

Great Western Lodge is the worst company of all time. I booked through VRBO and they had a glitch that timed out my booking and so I went back in to book and then when I did I received 2 booking notices. Great Western Lodge told me that all I needed to do was have VRBO email them explaining that this was the case and they would refund back my $477.95. But then once they received the email from VRBO stating this, they decided that they wanted VRBO to pay me back. Great Western Lodge even went in and cancelled the second reservation. But still no refund. So now I am having to send my correspondence

I booked a stay with a Great Western Lodging property in Breckenridge, CO on Friday, July 31, 2021 to check in on Thursday, August 5, 2021 and depart, Monday August 9, 2021. So I booked just prior to leaving, five days to be exact. Unfortunately, I started feeling sick with mild symptoms of COVID, even though I am fully vaccinated, and got tested on August 3, 2021. On August 4, 2021 I shared that I was in fact COVID positive with Great Western Lodging and let them know our family would not be able to come and asked if we could reschedule. They said we could not and they would not give us a refund

I've never rebooked a stay until this past week with my stay at Great Western Lodging. My boyfriend had a serious allergic reaction. I don't know what in the room caused it, but it's not surprising to me as the atmosphere was musty and dusty. We found somewhere else and tried to reason with Great Western for a partial refund given the circumstances. I should note that we returned the keys the next day and it took Great Western four days to finally contact us after I left messages, emailed, and visited the office in person. They refused a partial refund stating that it was their policy not to and

Please read the other reviews and take note of the lack of compassion in the company's responses. We are currently staying here and the unit is so so dirty. I have been having to pick dust bunnies off of my infant. I asked about a cleaning and they stated they do not provide mid-stay cleanings. I understand if that's not provided, but the unit should absolutely be cleaned prior to guests arriving. Especially during a pandemic. I have called to get necessities such as towels and toilet paper and room keys (they continue to quit working). After multiple calls from myself and other members

DO NOT BOOK WITH GWL! We planned a stay in Breckenridge over the holidays but now with Covid cases surging in our area, we are heeding the advice not to travel. We were so looking forward to visiting and being with family for a few days. We did not cancel lightly and had hoped GWL would consider at least a credit towards a future stay given the pandemic situation. The response was just a flat "nope" and "nothing we can do." So a loss of $1700 for two nights. I just can't believe they won't even offer the credit. We would have happily come at anytime in the next 6 months

My family was scheduled to visit one of their properties the week of Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, 4 of our family members were recently exposed to COVID. We ask to change the date of our reservation to keep the rest of the family safe as some of us are high risk. We even offered to pay the difference of another holiday week. Chris at Great Western Lodging was not having it. I am so upset we spent $3K and now have lost it all. I was not asking for my money back just to move the dates. The travelers insurance I was offered through VRBO

A SCAM! Do NOT rent from this company. I had an agreement when I made reservations in April 2020 to stay at Odins Circle 33 for 6 nights and they just cancelled my reservation saying that the owner forgot to block out that week for his 80th birthday. I had rented this house for a great price and they cancelled and tried to put us in a condo that wasn't even close to being "comparable". This reeked of the ole "Bait and Switch"! Renters beware!

We were due to stay with Great Western for a two week vacation travelling from the UK until the coronavirus shut down. We have been staying with them for over 10 years sometimes twice in a season always for 2-3 weeks at a time. In the beginning we liked the service they provided but in recent years with change of management have found the quality of their service lacking & unprofessional, the only reason we went back was because we like a particular unit although even that had its issues.

Our family has made an annual ski/snowboarding trip to Breckenridge 10 or so times over the last 15 years and utilized the services of Great Western Lodging probably 7 or 8 of those trips. We have had a few issues with units over the years, but nothing that wasn't handled with some professionalism and courtesy based our continued business. This year my husband and son planned an annual trip and then the pandemic hit - lifts closed, flight cancelled, and we were placed under the stay at home order. Absolutely terrible customer service. Closed the entire mountain and lodge due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however Great Western Lodge REFUSES to refund their customers. All other lodges we booked for our vacation refunded immediately, no questions asked. Great Western Lodge kept every penny, even the "cleaning fee" for a room I never even got to stay in. Would never book with this place again... Things were a little sketchy to start with regarding their pricing practices. Advertise a sale starting on a certain date and make plans based off quoted prices but then after the sale starts notice that the math doesn't add up and find out they quote discounted rates all the time so you don't know what the real prices are to start with (easily). Think OK... still not too bad but should have heeded the red flags. Things are moving along towards Spring Break vacation and then the coronavirus hits and already see the inflexibility starting

Will not be completely negative. The reservationist Kim upon booking our travel was personable and accommodating.
However, once we arrived to our unit, (THE POWDERHORN BUILDING) the unit was dirty and disheveled. Kitchen light flickered, couch cushions leaned over, drawers half open, and BED was old and extremely uncomfortable. The bed was so old I had such bad allergies-- My eyes wouldn't stop rushing down my face, nose and throat itched nonstop. Romantic right??
I had to take a Benadryl every day which made me drowsy, which limited me doing much and it was supposed to be an active trip

Also saw the best roads with fall colors, so grateful for the tips that made my visit unforgettable. The unit was cozy and had everything we needed, even a humidifier.
