Services
In Maryland, no towns are identical; at Lorien, no facilities are either. Since pioneering our vision for senior care in 1977, we've developed 9 locations, each one strategically placed to benefit the Maryland community. We were the first senior care facility in the state to bring assisted living communities and skilled nursing facilities together, and we're continuing that progressive vision into the future.
When Nicholas and Mary Mangione founded Lorien Health Services, they set out to provide Maryland's seniors with the pride, dignity and joy they deserve. Their vision has leapt forward into a pioneering, technologically-equipped senior care establishment with 9 community-focused facilities in Baltimore, Howard, Harford and Carroll counties that all serve different roles within our continuum of care.

I was admitted to Lorian after knee surgery.
They told me my meds did not transfer from Howard County Hospital. I waited hours while I was crying in pain.
My surgery ordered a ice machine to put on my knee. I was told not authorized. My doctor ordered physical therapy 5 times a 2eek. I was only getting twice a week. My doctor actually had to call social worker and then things starting getting into order.
The nurses were wonderful. They were helpful at all times. I don't blame the nurses because their hands were tied too.
The individuals that washed and dried my laundry were great.
I have to

They offer you a job saying their going to send an offer letter and then days of them not responding back to your emails, calls or voicemails, they then send a letter in the mail saying they picked someone else with better qualifications. Truly unprofessional and poor communication.

My mother resided at Lorien for 15 years but has just passed. She and began living independently there and then began moving to more dependent care. She lived there with dementia for a long time. I know when a loved one has dementia they are not able to comment on the care they are getting. So it is important they are in a facility that has high standards of care and are clean and have staff that are attentive and caring. Well this was very true of Lorien. My mother used to sit in a lazy boy chair during the day and also sleep in it at night. When able she would use a walker or be wheeled to

My mother passed away in February 2014 after spending almost three amazing years being cared for by the incredible staff at Lorien Mt. Airy. The nurses on the floor, the respiratory therapists, the aides and our social worker were consistently competent, communicative and caring. The pulmonologist saw Mom regularly, was available for consults and provided his cell number for emergencies! These people contributed to the highest quality of life possible for my mom in her final years of life. Kudos to Lorien Mt. Airy

My mom has been staying here for over a week now for recovery and the physical therapy has been very beneficial. The problem is that she is a diabetic and the doctor refused to give her insulin at the prescribed dosage. Her sugar level rose to over 400 (should be 100), and now she's at great risk of infection. She would've been released by now but they must keep until they can get her glucose under control. The people have generally been nice, however, the doctor has not been. I am hurt, and angry with my experience here and encourage everyone to do research about the doctors that
