Services
John Struthers and Colleen DeLaney are married - to each other! John began developing what would become the Acupuncture Center of Chico in 1987, and Colleen joined him full-time when she graduated in 1990. They have been married since 1987. John and Colleen each have backgrounds in western medicine, and advocate a complementary balance between the western and eastern approaches.
We can tell you over the phone if we've had success treating your type of situation in the past. Or make an appointment, and upon your first face-to-face consultation we will be able to give you a sense of whether acupuncture is appropriate for your situation, and approximately how many treatments and how long it might take.
John Struthers spent years apprenticing with several Acupuncturists known for their extensive Chinese herb formula knowledge including Shirley Chang, Ken Smith and Ken Pang. He held informal study groups for students at Five Branches University teaching them what he knew about herb formulas to augment their formal studies.
I've had the pleasure of collaborating with Colleen DeLaney for over 15 years. She does an outstanding job of evaluating my patients and selecting a successful treatment plan. When we moved to Chico in 1998 I decided to try acupuncture for a problem I was having no success with. Through Colleen's vast body of knowledge she was able to diagnose my endometriosis and refer me to a doctor who specialized in this disease.
Acupuncture Center of Chico is a full service professional Acupuncture Clinic. You always receive personal one-on-one attention every time. Treatments are done in a private room in a very safe and comfortable environment assuring total confidentiality. All appointments start with a 20-30 minute consultation guaranteeing you a complete and thorough assessment before every treatment with plenty of time to talk.

I could go on and on about John. He has helped me many times with my back pain over the last 4 years. He provides high quality services with a cheerful attitude, you’re always greeted with a smile and he’s got the best sense of humor! He charges a flat rate of $50 for all services. I’m able to get cupping, acupuncture and even E-stim therapy done all in the same visit for $50. Nowhere else in Chico beats his services, prices, or hospitality. Thank you John for all that you do!

I had a cyst on my hand that was interfering with my finger movement and was told I needed complicated surgery to remove it.
I decided to try acupuncture first. I saw John, and he said he felt he could get it to shrink. After about 10 treatments the cyst was gone.
I now see him anytime something is bothering me..so much better than meds.

I have used the acupuncture services of Coleen DeLaney here at the Acupuncture Center of Chico for at least 2 years. This is an important part of my healthy life. When I arrived I was very depressed and the interview process and puncture therapy have eased my physical and mental distress. This is a valuable resource to understand the body's stresses and easing them. I feel great about life and enjoy exercise because of the caring service I receive here.
