I have no idea how this can be considered a 3 star hotel. No refrigerator or microwave in the room. The walls and ceiling are super thin and you hear everything. All of the outdoor activities were closed down for the season which was super disappointing. I didn't sleep at all because the bed was so hard it's like sleeping on the floor. The pillows are like 2x4s wrapped in a towel. And to top it all off there isn't even cable in the room. It's seriously only local free TV channels. No indoor pool or hottub. I personally would not recommend staying here unless you plan on not sleeping.

We spend Labor Day weekend at the resort. What a wonderful time. The beach was clean and in a nice location with little waves (a plus). We had s’mores by the fire pit every night that was provided by the resort. Pools were wonderful especially the hot tub. It was great to relax in.
We also took a private boat tour by Jeff. He told us all about the area which was delightful. Probably the highlight of our getaway!
The rooms were immaculate and spacious. Soaps and shampoos were provided. We loved going down to the continental breakfast and coffee. We bring our own pillows but they provided extra

Stayed in two cottages. Reviews from guests that stayed in them, overpiced for $700 or $800 per night. For the $$ spent, the cottages were slightly clean but behind furniture...filthy. Walls had dead bug splatter on them from former stays. Beds were horridly stiff, pillows were paper thin. Inside the cottages we felt you should get more for your money. Outside the cottage grounds very nice, well kept and appreciated.
Biggest complaint, was owner at the cottage office Fred. He overcharged us $140 per night at check in. Can't really complain or leave when you just drove 10 hrs to your destination

Dear Mary K., Owner. I do not think there was a misunderstanding. We no nothing of 2021 price sheet as we were not presented with that information. We went by what we were told on the phone and sent a check for the amount requested ($300.00) for deposit which we we're told was one night stay. We sent a check because we were also told that a card could not be accepted. BUT, when we arrived and was short money because of now being told it was $400.00 per night he took the credit card then. I don't know if you own the whole resort or just the hotel but you might be want to check out the condition

Our experience was perfect Jeff, Carl, and Fred were a delight and so accommodating and helpful during our wedding and honeymoon stay in cabin #1 😀 The scenery every morning was so beautiful and peaceful. We cannot wait to spend our anniversaries here every year! Thank you South Beach Resort for the wonderful memories ❤

Very nice and clean hotel rooms. The beds are average and the pillows are not great, so I do suggest taking your own pillow. I highly suggest the Queen Deluxe Rooms because they have a view of Sandusky Bay, include a two-person jacuzzi tub, two queen size beds, air conditioning/ heating and an outside exit to a small patio or balcony big enough for two seats. Try to stay away from the left end rooms because the view can be obscured. You can also stay in one of their many cottages. The resort has a 0-2.5ft depth kiddie pool, a 3ft-5ft depth pool, a calm/no splash pool with hot tub, and a sandy beach

We booked for 2 nights but the mattresses on both of the queen beds in our room were so uncomfortable that we checked out after the first night. When we checked out we explained that the bed was very uncomfortable. The young lady at the desk said “I know. I stayed here last night. The bed was awful.”
No fridge or microwave in the room - unless you want to pay $5/$10 per night. Vending machine snacks/drinks. Continental cold breakfast provided between 8-10. No restaurant onsite.
On the upside: Shower pressure was good. Room was clean. Employees were friendly. Pools were nice.

The wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here. We came for the lighthouse and relaxing. And we got everything we wanted. The staff was very friendly. Christopher was awesome. Our room was wonderful except I wish it had a mini fridge. The in room Keurig was a nice touch but we brought our own hot pot and french press. The whirlpool is great except for limiting it till 10pm. Really cramps the romance. The several pools provided by the hotel were the perfect temp and wonderful after a long day. The private beach had great sand and was quaint. There are several gazebos which were a great vantage

We booked this room through my wife's workplace. I believe the original cost per night was in the $300 range. We where lucky to get it for about half of that. If we would have had to pay full price my star value would have been lower.
The place it's self is clean - nicely decorated. Limited Interaction with the staff was pleasant.
Climate in the room was very comfortable. The mattresses leave a lot to be desired. As mentioned before - very bouncy. I however was so tired that I sleep like a baby.
Really nice recreational area kids and adults. The kids have a nice pool complete with

This is no resort. But here is the problem - NO COMPETITION. Most staff we had to deal with were lukewarm at best and two of the older men policing the outside play area were two of the rudest people I have come across in the ""hospitality" business. One yelled at my 11 year old grandson so badly it caught the attention of many of the guests. They make you feel like they are doing YOU a favor by being there instead of the other way around. The "beach" is a joke. Ok, its not their fault it's Lake Erie, but come on.....so many dead fish washed up it was disgusting

The hotel is clean but very "lived in". The beds are a huge disappointment. Soft beyond soft. They kinda sag in the center. The staff was friendly. The place is alright, not what I would a call a resort and defiantly not worth over $100/night. Breakfast was not even worth mentioning, just sleep in and go to breakfast big bopper.

We stayed at this resort for our vacation. Overall the resort was ok. The "adult" pool was full of kids no older than 10 our first night. The wifi didn't work but that's expected because we're right on the water so that's not their fault. The pillows were rock hard and the beds weren't too comfortable. On the brightside though everyone i met staff wise was very nice, friendly, and helpful and the resort itself was beautiful.

Room was clean. Beds not comfortable. Very old. My guess 15 years. Dips bad in the middle really hard to sleep. Breakfast was standard for a stay of$55 per night. At $129 I expect more. Mini muffins, cold cereal, warm milk, and a pastry. The pool was very nice however the beach very small and green not really what I was thinking from other beach locations with blue water of Lake Erie. I would not stay here again.

My wife and two kids stayed at this resort for a week. We actually stayed in the cottages that line a small path to the adult pool and hot tub that also leads to a beautiful sand beach and marina. The sand must be trucked in because it is not like the other beaches on the Sandusky Bay. This was real sand! The marina was nice for walk as the main pier is pretty long. It has gazebos on it too. People were fishing and cleaning their boats. It made for some beautiful sunset walks.
There are three pools and a hot tub. The pool closest to the water is considered the "quiet pool". Kids dominate

We stayed just one night in mid-June, 2014. We came in on a Saturday and left Sunday after massages.
We got to the area early, around 1, so we drove around for 2 hours exploring. When we headed over to the hotel, it was easy to find as the road is literally a loop along the peninsula.
We pulled in and there were more cars than the first time we went past earlier in the day, so that was encouraging. It looks small from the street, and even from the inside, it's not huge.
The "Lobby" is in a living room set up with 2 desks, 2 sofas, a few chairs, a TV that wasn't showing TV

I took the family here earlier this year and stayed for several days. The hotel and rooms were clean and adequate. There were three pools which was nice since we were able relax at the lower pool, away from the kids pool.
The restaurant on site was closed except for the continental breakfast. Places to eat near the hotel are slim to none without driving 10-20 minutes. We were able to order a pizza delivery to the room one night though.
Overall it's a nice quiet hotel to stay at, just be prepared to drive for dinner.

The family stayed in the cottage, which was lack luster. We were told they when they arrived the sink was full of dirty dishes and the place did not appear clean. it was only it's ability to house 4 adults and 1 child+ proximity to the docks and lawn swing that made it somewhat appealing.. I think the price was something like 400-500 per night and you need to rent it for 1 week ( Saturday to Saturday).
Since we could not have the cabin for Sunday we all rented a room a the Hotel and that was Very expensive for a low quality stay ~ 300 per night. the sheets were ratty (they used flat sheets
