Put-in-Bay has several theories as to the origin of its name. According to an 1879 journal, the Harbor on South Bass Island was "shaped like a pudding bag with a soft bottom". However, the origin most likely came around because the excellent refuge the bay provided in its protected harbor, and according to history, "put in the bay" is what sailors would do when it was too rough to sail on the lake's waters.
Put-in-Bay is known as the "Key West Of The North" but unlike Key West, we are a true island with no attached roadways. There are three ways to get to South Bass Island home to the Village of Put-in-Bay. The most popular way to arrive is by one of the two Put-in-Bay Ferry Boats which offer service to the island.

Bay Lodging Resort is open from the first weekend in April to the last weekend in October. Reservations are recommended far in advance to guarantee room type. Reservations are accepted for the following year at check out. Bay Lodging Resort 2 Bedroom Full Kitchen Living room suite. Each of the 2 Bedroom Living Room Full Kitchen Suites features two bedrooms each with a queen size bed, and a Livingroom with a queen sofa bed.
Each spacious double room at the Edgewater Hotel features two queen size beds, air-conditioning, private bath with bathtub, sitting area, desk, telephone and satellite television, hair dryers, iron and board, in-room safes and refrigerator. The Edgewater Hotel is located on the main strip across from the park and waterfront in downtown Put-in-Bay.

The Put-in-Bay Hotels website is a reservation portal to all the best hotels, resorts, rental homes and villas on the island. I really like the site because your can book a reservation at all your favorite places to stay using only one website with a name brand that's easy to remember.
