It's important to have a mechanic you can trust.
I found T.A.C.S. Auto Body & Service about 15 years ago when I was in need of auto body repairs to my car and they have been my go to guys ever since.
I made an appointment for 12/01/20 for an oil change, and to check the "check engine" light that came up recently. At times, it can be difficult finding a garage or mechanic to work with because often if you work a 9 to 5 job, those hours mimic those of a lot of other businesses. Thankfully, T.A.C.S. has extended their hours until 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. At one point

I've been exclusively getting my car worked on at TACS since 2013 (it's end of 2019 as I write this). They have always treated me great and tried to save me as much money as possible.
I've never had one issue with their work or customer service. This place is full of great people doing great work.
I once had to replace a transmission in my car and they were honest, told me they couldn't do it, pointed me in the right direction to another shop not far away that could help me, and that recommendation saved me over $600 from what I expected to pay.

I used TACs many times over the years but haven't been there in a few years. Unfortunately, this place has gone total chop shop. They refused to do an estimate until they heard the insurance company's "offer". How dishonest. I called them this morning and they assured they could get me one in 20 mins. I wasted a bunch of time driving over there only to fill out a "client sheet" and then be refused an estimate. Don't go.

TACS is the best place to service your car in the Capital District. I've been coming here for years and I recommend them to everyone I know. I have been to other shops and I hate that feeling of getting duped I get at other places - Not here! They are extremely fair and are happy to answer any questions you have. I never feel like I'm being sold unnecessary items or am being over charged. I trust the staff here - there's so friendly and knowledgeable. I needed my lift gate replaced after a collision. The dealership told me that the only replacement lift gate they could find would have to be painted to match my car and the interior might not match. Within minutes, Ed was able to find a lift gate for me that matched my car, inside and out. His estimate was $400 less than the dealership. I dropped it off the night before our appointment, using the handy night drop off service, and it was done on time. They even noticed that my New York state inspection sticker had expired, and did my inspection during the appointment. I just called to schedule

Great service department. Who knew they do service as well as collision repair! Took my car in with vague noise complaint. Mechanic found problem, then told me it was likely covered by warrantee. This resulted in my taking the car back to the dealer. TACS treated me great even thought they did not get that repair job. They will get any service and repairs I need in the future.

I came to TACS for an estimate and was impressed with the honest, no-pressure customer service I received. In fact, the pressure was so nonexistent that I didn't bother getting the repair done. So, I withhold the 5th star only because I can't comment firsthand on their workmanship.

TACS repaired my brand new car as if it had never been in an accident. Brian, Kevin and Matt are great and it seems like everyone in the area knows it. When I talked about where to bring my car more than one person said "are you going to TACS?" Thankfully we're from Saratoga so I'll be telling people it's worth the drive because these guys know what they're doing and they're friendly and real. Honest and quick, they are always helpful!

TACS is great. The people who work there are very friendly and honest, and their estimate to fix our car was the very best out of a handful (even beating out a referral-only back-of-the-house situation). They were amenable to considering "saving" the bumper to save more money, but it couldn't be done. The only drawback is that with those prices, you may need to wait a few weeks to get on the schedule. But once you bring it in, it's done quickly, and will look good as new.

This is the place to go if you need your car fixed. The owners and all mechanics are great to talk to. They always checked the problem first, exploring all possible causes and then explained me in detail what needs to be done and always gave me an accurate estimate. They always answer the phone and follow up as they promissed. This is the place to go!
