STARS Dance Academy
STARS Dance Academy opened in 2003 and has been providing quality dance education to Omaha's youth for 18 seasons, and counting! We believe everyone should enjoy the art of dance, and we accept all dancers with open arms! Our dance classes are small so your students get the individual attention they deserve, and our teachers are kind and enthusiastic role models who are passionate about their craft.

We're constantly striving to provide students with a well-rounded dance education, a sense of accomplishment and positive self-worth, and life-long friendships. As a studio, we teach hard work and perseverance through the sport of dance, and encourage dancers to use the art form to express themselves in a healthy way.
Services
Corrie fell in love with dance at the age of 3, and has now dedicated herself to the art of teaching. Her dance experience includes a lifetime of classes, local competitions and workshops, high school dance team, and touring as a backup dancer for national recording artist Mulberry Lane. Corrie has a bachelor's degree from University of Nebraska, and more than 15 years of teaching experience.
We at STARS are so blessed with supportive families that make our dream of teaching dance a reality each week. We pour our hearts into our work, and these kind words from our customers make us so proud of all we've accomplished. My daughters have danced at STARS for 10 years! The instructors are invested in each of their students and share their love of dance in every class.
The dress code for each class is outlined in the class description for that class, so please check there for your specific requirements. For girls, leotards are required for ballet combo classes with tights/ballet skirt/dance shorts. Any fitted dancewear (including leotards, dance shorts, leggings, fitted tanks, and two-piece outfits) may be worn for add-on classes like pom, hip hop, acro, and musical theater.
Our open studio spaces are perfect for many activities including dance, martial arts, fitness classes, and the large open spaces make it an ideal gathering place for team meetings, play groups, and birthday parties too! The raised-wood floors are gentle on your joints, and the full wall of mirrors gives you a great view of your movement.
Private lessons can be scheduled for dancers of any age, and in any style of dance we teach at SDA! One-on-one instruction is the fastest way for students to improve technique to move up to the next level! This can be especially helpful when preparing for an audition for a Line or our Competition Team, for school cheer and dance team tryouts, or to try out a new style of dance before committing to a full year!

I didn't like the way the studio handled last year's recital. One month prior to the recital, I had emailed the studio owner to let her know that my kiddo was questioning her gender identity. I did this in hope that they had enough time to prepare a separate dress area for her. Instead they put her in the MEN'S bathroom. I was freaking livid! She didn't even get to hang out with her friends. She felt so excluded. I felt like I gave them plenty of time to work something out. After this experience we decided to take a year off. We had been going to Stars for 9 years. I expected more from them. Now

Just to echo on the previous review...the studio has changed since my daughter was there as a little girl. It is stagnant and the dances each recital are the same as the year before. More experienced teachers have been let go and there is no new blood to allow for fresh dances. Very young girls are placed with older girls again making this studio more for younger ages thus lacking challenge or interest for older girls. Multiple parents have complained yet nothing changes. Furthermore, the studio allows bullying of dancers by parents. Not at all a healthy or productive environment.

I am a former student at Stars Dance Academy and I feel like it is better for younger students other than older students. Older students are given coreoagraphy that is outdated and too easy for the age category in which they are in. Being there for a while has caused me to be very stagnant and leave.

I opted to bring my two toddlers here for the movers and groovers summer class as the price was good. They've been attending for the past few weeks, and they already want to call it quits. Twice now I've seen other kids come out of their class crying, and my wife witnessed the ensuing conversation between the instructor and the parent of the crying child, where it was revealed that the instructor had yelled at the girl.
My own kids have complained that their instructor is mean, won't let them dance next to each other, and yells at them. I get it, kids are stressful, but if you can't handle 12

We just wrapped up our 4th season at STARS. I have two dancers there, my older one has always been in the classes for more serious dancers. She has continued to grow in her flexibility, showmanship, strength, skills and techniques, and her confidence. My younger daughter has an absolute blast, but probably won't be a high skill dancer. The best… part is, there is a place for both of them at STARS. While they aren't specifically aimed at being a 'competition' studio, my child has danced competitively with this studio for three seasons. They have fared quite well every season, while remaining

As my daughters are getting older they still love dancing for STARS dance academy! They couldn’t be happier with the instructors and how they push each individual girl to do their best. As a parent we can’t ask for a more wholesome studio and family environment for our daughters to dance and learn life lessons. Thank you STARS!!!

My daughter LOVES going to dance each week. The instructors are patient and caring. She has learned so much… about dance technique in a short period of time. The dances and costumes are always age appropriate. Classes and recital/costume fees are affordable. I would highly recommend Stars!!

Stars Dance Academy is the best kept dance secret in Omaha. The small class size and opportunities for students to participate in mulitiple classes is unparalleled. My daughters have had opportunities at Stars other studios do not offer without a huge price tag. Miss Corrie and her staff are amazing! They love dance and their students and it shows!
