Over 25,000 Cataract Surgeries Performed by Dr. Daniel Sambursky and his Team with Life-changing Results for Patients in Binghamton, Elmira, Corning and Ithaca, NY. There are good chances that either you or a loved one is experiencing these symptoms: cloudy or blurry vision, a yellow haze in your eyesight, glare or halos at nighttime, or even sensitivity to light during the day.
Cataracts cause clouding of the lens in your eye, leading to blurry vision. Cataracts can affect anyone at any age but are more commonly found in people later in age, around 50-60 years old. Early signs of this condition are squinting through cloudy vision, or colors seeming dimmer than usual. Unfortunately, cataracts tend to develop very slowly over time, so most people don't even know they have one until their vision is already declining.
It's called a femtosecond laser and it's an exciting advance in the way doctors treat cataracts. Dr. Sambursky of Sambursky Eye & Esthetic recently became the only surgeon in the region to offer femtosecond laser procedures, using a LenSx laser, for cataract patients.
With the femtosecond laser tool, the surgeon creates a precise surgical plan using a sophisticated 3-D image to map out an incision in a specific location, depth and length in all planes. The laser then makes the incision accurately, and studies have shown that the laser works better in terms of accuracy and reproducibility, and the laser allows for better centering of the replacement lens as well.

Glaucoma refers to a group of eye diseases that damage the nerves that carry signals from the eye to the brain. Glaucoma is a gradual loss of vision that usually has no symptoms until the disease eventually takes your sight. It's the leading cause of blindness in the U.S. There's currently no cure for glaucoma, and, once diagnosed, it's a chronic disease that must be treated for life.
Corneal problems can happen to anyone at any age. If the cornea is damaged from disease, injury or infection, it can become cloudy or warped. The damaged cornea distorts light as it travels into the eye, affecting your vision. It may even cause pain. The damaged and diseased tissue can be replaced by corneal transplant, one of the oldest, most common and most successful transplant surgeries in all of medicine.
