Drendel & Jansons Law Group
Although legal services have been declared an essential service during this State of Emergency, we are taking all reasonable and appropriate precautions. Our staff and attorneys are working remotely, but we continue to provide legal services as people need them. We are still meeting with clients and providing legal advice through telephone calls and video conferencing.

We are drafting documents and having them signed using electronic means when appropriate. We are doing remote real estate closings, remote signing of Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney. We are even offering remote mediation services for divorce and other family conflicts. Our roots go back to 1961 when Gilbert X. Drendel, Jr. joined the legendary Reid, Ochsenschlager, Murphy & Hupp law firm in Aurora.
Services
With roots going back to 1961 in Aurora. Gilbert ("Gib") Drendel and Kevin G. Drendel moved with five other attornies to Batavia in 1994. Through different iterations, the Drendel & Jansons Law Group has remained in Batavia and reopened an office in Aurora when Mark D. Brent joined the Firm in 2009.
Gilbert Drendel is our mentor and primogenitor; he blazed the trails, lead the way, put the law firm on the map and set it as a beacon on a hill. We naturally hold him in high esteem, and we are not the only ones.

A local leader, community servant, peacemaker, trendsetter, the "professor" and author of local laws and rules by which the legal tribe practice their professional craft, Gib Drendel is enjoying a well-earned retirement, displaying his skills in manuscripts and books that are the fruits of his new labor tracing ancient family lineages, traveling the country and the world, and simply enjoying life.
Mark D. Brent is a native of Aurora. He graduated with honors (Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Illinois in 1988, and the University of Illinois College Of Law in 1991. Mark spent several years doing major tort and insurance litigation with Williams and Montgomery in Chicago. He began his focus on Domestic Relations and Family Law in 1997 in Aurora.
Roman J. Seckel grew up in Northeast Wisconsin. He is a 2002 graduate of St. Norbert College, summa cum laude, where he was awarded the Rev. Robert Cornell Excellence in Political Science Award and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He went on to graduate from John Marshall Law School, cum laude, in 2005.
The Drendel & Jansons Law Group helps people solve problems, manage relationships and plan for a secure future. We are not just divorce lawyers, we handle all aspects of Family Law - divorce, legal separation, child custody, child support, spousal support (maintenance/alimony), contribution to college expenses, domestic violence orders of protection and everything under the Family Law sun.

I would recommend this law firm to anyone that I know with confidence. We have used Carolyn Jansons for all my post decree work (and there has been lots of it). Carolyn is highly intelligent and will tell you the truth even if it is hard to hear. She genuinely cares for people. She truly is top notch and I believe she is one of the top divorce attorneys in Kane and the surrounding counties.

Great Firm to deal with! Carolyn was top notch throughout my divorce and even in times I didnt want to hear things she was always upfront and kept me in line. My case was a financial nightmare and she was onpoint and ready to tackle whatever came up.

I didn’t think that the divorce process could be so smooth but Mark Brent and his team made it happen! I hired him in late January and my divorce was finalized mid-March. They handled everything and I mean EVERYTHING. They kept great communication through the whole process with me as well. I couldn’t have asked for a better firm to help me with all of this. Thank you so much!

I have nothing good to say about my experience with drendal and janson. The lawyer i was assigned to - Roman-did nothing for me but let my case drag on far too long. He did not know how to deal with other lawyer in court. He essentially threw my case away. He did nothing to notify my witness in time for trial, did not bother to present much of my evidence, and literally stood up and told judge he did not want to continue case for my witness to attend without asking me. I would have been better off without his representation. Again, He trew my case away and it was clear and obvious contractor

Based on my experience spending countless hours in their presence, when it comes to a divorce attorney in Kane County, the attorneys at this firm are pretty much the same as the rest, commingling with their peers on a daily basis. Divorce attorneys in Kane County, like most others, find ways to take what could be a simple, streamlined process, and drag it out for years, causing additional duress, and wringing you financially dry. It's what divorce attorneys do anywhere, so no, I am by no means suggesting Kane County divorce attorneys are any different.

What sets this firm apart, though

Mark Brent handled my separation and divorce with courtesy and professionalism. He advocated for me in every way throughout the process, always had my best interests in mind, and was available whenever needed to answer any questions I had, no matter how big or small. He provided a very satisfactory outcome to a complicated situation. I have recommended him and his firm many times without hesitation, and have returned myself as the need arose.
