Oak Crest Preschool
Oak Crest continues to maintain the highest standards in preschool education with it's age appropriate curriculum, low teacher-student ratios, language and literacy development and provides a loving environment in which children can develop. Through the collaboration of developing eager learners, Oak Crest Preschool recognizes the importance of enriching it's curriculum with applications in science, mathematics, Spanish and literacy.

These applications will establish a benchmark for each child's growing interest within these areas and enhance their changing capabilities by using a hands-on practical approach. What a great group of people. We tried Montessori, and looked into everything from day care chains to the Catholic schools.
Services
Oak Crest Preschool was founded in 1997 by Owner and Director Denay McLaughlin who hand selected the property to accommodate both a tranquil, spacious outdoor playground as well as one that was conducive to the type of exemplary curriculum she wanted to offer children in the area.

While earning her degree in Elementary Education she came to realize the need for a program that allows children to obtain the skills they need to have upon entering into kindergarten.Oak Crest Preschool has since been working hand in hand with area elementary schools to ensure that it is continuing to meet the standards for kindergarten readiness.
Oak Crest Preschool has been serving the Tarpon Springs/ Palm Harbor Community for over 20 years. We are a gold seal accredited school providing multiple A+ programs through developmentally appropriate practices and hands on experiences. To provide an atmosphere which allows children to achieve their full potential through relationships that are built on trust, honesty and empathy.
Research on Early Childhood Education is the driving force for our curriculum decisions. We respect each child's changing capabilities and have faith in their ability to be self-directed learners. Our goal is to create eager learners by providing concrete activities that are relevant to the lives of young children.
Playing with toddlers is delightful. The very beset way to develop a young child's brain connection is to give children what they need, which is an environment that is interesting to explore, that is safe, and that is filled with people who will respond to their emotional and intellectual needs.

Brain research supports what we already know: young children need loving, supportive people in their lives who will sing to them, hug them, talk to them, read to them, not flash cards in their faces. All of the activities and games in the toddler class develop the brain capacity of these toddlers. They are the building blocks for future learning - a good solid beginning for little ones and enjoyable at the same time.

I can't recommend Oak Crest Preschool high enough to families searching for high quality child care. I have 2 children ages 2 and 5 who attend full time Monday - Friday. They have attended for 1.5 years and I have toured several schools/daycares/pre-schools before deciding on Oak Crest.

I have been so impressed by how my children's motor and cognitive skills have been guided by the programs they are in at Oak Crest. They are enriched and engaged all day through creative experiences - too many to list! My children LOVE going there and I genuinely feel as though they are part of the family

What a great group of people. We tried Montessori, and looked into everything from day care chains to the Catholic schools. These folks were hands down the best.
Initially, we thought they were the best because they were so friendly, the place was so clean, and behind it all was great structure.
But ultimately, what made them great I think was the everyday interaction with our daughter. The care, compassion, tolerance, and genuine interest in doing what they do exceedingly well. Many thanks for 3 and 1/2 great years!! We really can't thank you enough for giving our little girl such

If you can get past the owners lack of people skills you will be pleasantly surprised with this daycare. Had two kids over two years here and don't have many complaints, they rarely get sick and have never come home hurt or scratched or bruised. I would definitely recommend this facility to friends especially considering the terrible alternative options that don't come anywhere close to the quality at OCP

Owner is rude and condescending to parents. She needs an attitude adjustment or she is going to go out of business. Very unprofessional in front of her customers repeatedly.

I really want to give this place 0 Stars. The owner director is rude and condescending. She should not be in a position where she has to work with people, especially children, for she has no clue about customer service or compassion.

I was disappointed by this school. I thought it was going to be a great place for my son but it wasn't. The staff is very indifferent and cold. Upon pick up we would get very limited if any feedback on how our cold did during the day. Drop off is in a classroom that isn't where our child spent his day, pick up was also in another classroom. Too much shuffling around & I encountered different staff too frequently upon pick up & drop off. My child was constantly getting sick there as well, they allow children who appear physically ill to attend as long as they are not vomiting

I love this school for my daughter! She has been going there for almost a year in the infant room. Oak Crest's flexibility has been great for my schedule, and their genuine care and love for my daughter is the only thing that makes it possible for me to leave her there every morning. Outstanding ownership and management, and the infant teachers (especially Miss Jennifer, who's been with us for the full year) have a genuine love for their babies!

I have had two children go through the program at Oak Crest and I couldn't be happier. They have even changed their schedules over time to be more accommodating to parents and families. The teachers do a great job of giving informal, periodic feedback and always alerting me to the strengths and weaknesses they see in my kids. I would recommend Oak Crest to ANYONE looking for a great daycare/pre-K facility!
