Smart-Sciences, Inc. provides expertise in environmental permitting, ecological consulting and environmental science to private, industrial and public sector clients. Services
Smart-Sciences, Inc. is experienced in applying the standards of science in documenting presence and occurrence of the Florida Bonneted Bat (Eumops floridanus, FBB), or establishing a level of confidence in absence, no occurrence, of FBB. We are experts at determining whether a site may be used by FBBs and if so, how they are using the site (roosting, foraging, flying by, etc.).
Smart-Sciences, Inc. conducted the environmental assessments for the Stormwater, Wastewater and Drinking Water System Planning Reports being prepared by project engineers for the City of Opa-locka, funded by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program.

For each of these projects Smart-Sciences utilized Geographic Information System data and field visits to evaluate the flora, fauna, listed wildlife species, wetlands, surface water bodies, vegetated uplands and undisturbed areas throughout the City.We also identified potentially contaminated sites throughout the City.
Smart-Sciences, Incorporated was contracted to prepare permit applications for a residential development. The project included conducting a wetland assessment for this 18-acre agricultural site, located in the vicinity of SW 88th Street at SW 172nd Avenue. The property owner had been contacted by Miami-Dade County regarding on-site wetland impacts that had occurred without a permit.
Ms. Colbert has been providing ongoing permitting, environmental assessment and remediation services and ecological services for this construction materials and mining Client at numerous facilities throughout the state of Florida. Services include the preparation of Environmental Resource Permits, Individual Industrial Wastewater Permits and Consumptive Use Permits for various mining operations.
The Vihlen project is a 15-acre site located outside the urban development boundary in Miami, Miami-Dade County. The site consists of undeveloped vegetated land with 9.37 acres designated as a Natural Forest Community (NFC) and 14.2 acres is under conservation easement by Miami-Dade County Environmentally Endangered Lands (EEL) program.
