Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of the teeth. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their effectiveness and versatility. Placing custom veneers requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail.
Silver (mercury containing) fillings are still available, but rarely used in our practice. Most patients prefer the appearance of tooth colored resin fillings. The procedure is similar, but the results are much nicer with tooth colored restorations. As old silver fillings wear out, we replace them with white "tooth colored" fillings.
Most dentistry looks like dentistry. Our goal is to provide dentistry that looks beautiful and natural. We often joke with our patients that our best work goes completely unnoticed. We replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth. Where damage to your teeth is extreme, and looks beyond repair, we can use porcelain or porcelain fused to gold crowns to make your smile appear "as new."
All of your teeth play an important role in appearance, speaking, chewing and in maintaining proper alignment of other teeth. Tooth loss doesn't necessarily have to occur as you age, but if you do lose teeth, they must be replaced to maintain proper function of your mouth.
