We are a family designed and run luxury boutique hotel located in beautiful McCammon, Idaho in the heart of Marsh Valley. The building that houses the hotel was built in 1906 and was originally the McCammon State Bank building (the vault is now the hotel gift shop), with a mercantile store, post office and apartments also located in it.
It is listed on the National Historic Registry and its' architecture is very unique for the area. Historic details of the building include 11' ceilings, arch-top windows over 8' tall, two large skylights, original wood floors, mouldings and doors, and period photographs and newspapers displayed throughout.

We stayed in a mediocre hotel during our honeymoon. After that memorable experience we started thinking about the possibility of creating a luxury hotel "some day" ourselves. That "some day" came a lot sooner than we thought it would (two years vs. decades down the road). Neither of us had owned a business nor had any hospitality industry experience prior to embarking on this journey.

This was one of my favorite places I have ever stayed! Staff was SO nice and when they heard it was my husband's birthday, they went to the back to get him a free chocolate bar (just to show what good hospitality they have). Free hot chocolate/coffee in the lobby, awesome rooms, and the most comfortable pillows you will ever sleep on. Stayed in the Copper Room and it was fantastic. Just a 10 minute drive from Lava. Will definitely be coming here again!

Wow!! Such a beautiful hidden gem! Heidi was so sweet and told us about the renovation. They didn't skip any details! This is a historical building that was saved from being condemned and now has a modern feel with the charm from the reclaimed wood floors, baseboards and moldings. Lava is super close but honestly the soaker tub in our room was fantastic!
I saw a couple of bad reviews but feel like they must be from people that you can't make happy. No elevator? It's a historical building but every step (and there aren't that many) was worth it when we stepped into our room! 10/10 we will be back

I found a diamond !
Not an actual diamond, but I did find an absolute hidden gem of a hotel.
“The Harkness Hotel” in Mccammon Idaho!
It’s a completely renovated vintage hotel and is nicer than any hotel I’ve ever stayed in (including the ones in Vegas)
It’s definitely not a party town, in fact the only restaurant in that town is a subway and that closes at 9pm.
But only 10 minutes away is hot lava springs that has quite a few restaurants and a bar and hot springs (obviously)
100% would be PERFECT for a romantic get away where you’ll probably never see anyone you know…well I

The experience was good when I booked through the third party. Then I booked a room for another night straight through the hotel itself and was told I would have to cancel by 11 if I wanted a refund. I called for a refund way before 11 am. Was informed from the nice lady that her manager said it has to be cancelled within 72 hours. Strange how you book a room the day before the stay and that isn't even close to being able to cancel 72 hours in advance. How is that possible? It hadn't even been 24 hours that I notified them. I guess the poor lady that was at the desk had to do the dirty work and

Wow this place is so nice! Looks like they are remodeling other areas but our room is beautiful! Was a bit hard to find the room but no problem. Very affordable place to stay on the way to Yellowstone National park and grand Teton National park. Shauntel was so nice she even checked me in 1 hour past the check in time. Check this place out! You won't be disappointed

A friend recommended this place, and we wanted to visit Lava Hot Springs, so this made sense. The place is absolutely lovely! The exterior is beautiful, with the building being over 100 years old. The interior is wonderfully renovated. We were in the Indigo room. I always worry about staying in old buildings, but there are none of the issues that usually occur (no creaky floors or paper thin doors). The floors in the room are wood and tile, so my wife recommends bringing slippers if you get cold feet. The bed was firm, but was really comfortable. The shower and tub in the room are the kind I wanted

The room we got accommodated two adults in our four children perfectly. It also had a nice size living room. One downside is that we could not stream various media services to the TV, we were stuck watching cable. It's an old building that has been wonderfully decorated great vibe. There is a gas station / grocery store directly across the street. It was only 15 minutes from Lava Hot Springs. It was actually nice to be able to get out of that town and just visit for the day. Their coffee maker is incredible and have a darling gift shop.

The Harkness is a beautiful, memorable and quaint hotel that completely masters being both homey yet luxurious.
I visited with my boyfriend for our anniversary. There is no night staff, so we had to text when we were about 30 minutes out so that someone would be there (we were arriving late, around 9). Some other reviewers said it was a nuisance to text, but it's a very small inconvenience (if that) and I don't see it being much different than letting a family member know you're on the way if you're staying at their home.
We LOVED the atmosphere and attention to detail in

We were looking for a place to stay during our visit to Lava Hot Springs and stumbled upon this gem just located 10 minutes from the actual springs. Wow! The lobby is so beautiful, and as guests we were treated with respect and courtesy. The building was constructed in the early 1900s and only renovated a few years ago into what is now the Harkness Hotel. We stayed in the Pearl which is considered the most luxury hotel room in the building. The rustic, classic feel of the architecture is maintained but with some modern upgrades: elegant and functional plumbing, appliances, electronics, and furniture

Wow. Maybe the most tastefully put-together hotel I've ever stayed in. The friend who dropped me off asked me to find out who the decorator was! (It's the owner, and they outdid themselves).
I was lucky to score an open room on a Sunday night and was put up in the Slate.
Let me say I had the best shower I have had in my entire life there. Not just because I had just finished a week of camping, either (though that helped). Sometimes even fancy-ish or wannabe fancy places with beautiful showers don't have the right plumbing in play to support the fancy shower heads. The water pressure

On an over night trip to visit the Lava Hot Springs . Service was good and room was clean with nice decor. Housekeeper only left conditioner on the counter but everything else was well prepared. Great kitchen and living spaces with historical wall art that was a great touch! Room construction could use some attention to detail, however this hotel is very upscale for the little town its located in.

First of all who would have thought a swanky suuuper cute hotel would be in a town without even a stop light (or at least I didn't see one) population 805. Seriously, it's basically a village.
We booked the Ivory Room and it was so pretty. No detail was skipped. The bed was really comfy, the stand alone tub was awesome and deep! It actually was big enough to cover all of your body with water which is a challenge sometimes. This tub was not a shallow one at all. The shower was remarkable. The rain shower head on the ceiling was the biggest shower head I've ever seen or showered under
