The Tootharium
We invite all our esteemed viewers to have a look at our portal which we have designed specifically for your purpose. We are most pleased to serve our communities of Rutherford in New Jersey with the most advanced, caring and personalized dental treatments. The Tootharium is a child-friendly pediatric dental practice located in Rutherford, New Jersey.

We are committed to providing superior oral health care to every one of our patients. At The Tootharium, your child's dental health is our number one concern. Our goal is to provide comprehensive dental care, and to make each visit to our office an exciting and positive experience. We believe that the foundations of pediatric dentistry are dental education and preventive dentistry.
Services
Pediatric Dentistry is dedicated to creating a lifetime of positive dental habits, as well as guiding the development of a child's teeth and jaw. Infants, children, and adolescents, benefit from early preventive care and pediatric dental guidance. A pediatric dentist is specially trained to diagnose and treat children's teeth.
Research indicates the importance of starting children early in their lives with good dental hygiene and oral care. The most common chronic childhood disease in the U.S. is tooth decay. Early treatment prevents problems affecting a child's health, wellbeing, self-image and overall achievement.

The National Institute of Dental & Craniofacial Research estimates that children will miss 52 million hours of school each year due to oral health problems.By introducing proper oral care early in a child's life, as early as infancy, parents can ensure that their children practice good dental hygiene.
The Tootharium provides customized care and individual attention to children and adults with special needs. Through familiarization programs and specialized treatment plans, we successfully deliver gentle dental care. After an initial consultation with the parent or caretaker of the special needs patient, we tailor a custom made treatment protocol.
Following your child's filling appointment if an anesthetic has been used, the lips, tongue and cheek may be numb for several hours after the appointment. Avoid chewing and hot beverages until the numbness has completely worn off. Children can very easily bite their lips or tongue while being numb.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Dental Association recommend that your child's first pediatric dental visit should be scheduled once the first tooth erupts or by age one. At your child's first dental visit, your pediatric dentist will perform a comprehensive exam to ensure your little one's teeth are erupting properly.

He is great and what an amazing staff. My daughter has been going since a toddler and now she’s almost 6. Loves going there and feels very comfortable. That’s so important. The ease how he talks and sings to her is comforting. And Miss Stephanie the hygienist is fabulous. I’m so happy that my friends recommended this place.

Excellent experience! My 2 year old was terrified and hysterical and the hygienist, Stephanie, Dr. Michael and the entire staff were absolutely incredible - completely put my little guy at ease! He stopped crying right away and now he wants to go to the dentist everyday 😁 Dr. Michael is gentle, sings songs to patients, and has a wonderful demeanor for children. I can’t recommend this practice enough!

Dr. Mike and the ENTIRE staff at Tootharium are truly amazing. They have so much energy and excitement. They convey that they truly love what they are doing. My daughter does not do well, and frankly I dread taking her, but they go above and beyond to make her laugh, put her at ease and help us through the process. To boot, she leaves with a bag full of goodies, balloon and special hat. I wish Tootharium was around when I was little!

My daughter had her very first visit with Dr Mike this afternoon after a bad fall that required extractions. Not only did they fit us in right away but they went above and beyond to make sure my 3 year old daughter was comfortable with her experience. Every single person in this office went out of their way to give exemplary care. I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for my baby. I would (and will) recommend this office to everyone I know.

I started to bring my son to Dr. Mike when he was 3years old - every experience in the office has been amazing. From the moment you walk through the door, the receptionists welcome you with a bubbly personality and are always willing to help. The hygienists are so gentle with the children and thoroughly explain everything to them so there is zero fear - Dr.Mike loves his work and it shows! My son loves going to the dentist and it’s such a relief as a parent knowing he enjoys the experience as well! Highly recommend The Tootharium!!

Is always on time and will try to fit in both of your kids. My kids are always excited to go and can't wait for their balloon/goody bag to go. I wish I had this kind of experience growing up. This is why I take my children there, so they grow up without the fear of doctors. On a side note: flossing daily is the key to no cavities!

Dr. Mike and team are wonderful. We've been going to them since before my son turned 2 (dental emergency) and have never been disappointed. He makes kids and parents feel at ease, and always asks if I have any concerns about my son's teeth before the checkup begins. With the current COVID-related protocols in place, I felt absolutely comfortable taking my son in for his checkup. Props to The Tootharium, thank you for all you do!

Amazing! I wish I could go here as a patient. My daughter who is almost two is terrified of anything that resembles a doctors office. As soon as we walked through the door she took off to go play and found herself at home by the prize box lol.... Suzzie and Dr.Mike were both so wonderful and really helped my daughter ease into the visit and remain calm and happy.

Oh my goodness, I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Mike and his staff. Their new (well not so new anymore) office space is state of the art, with toys and iPads for the kids to play with in the waiting room. The rooms are brightly colored with lots of child-friendly artwork, which puts my kids at ease. The hygienist plays games to count teeth and demonstrates everything on my childrens' hands before she does it so that they are not scared. Dr. Mike comes in with his hat and sings songs while examining them. He is thorough and knowledgeable about all of the seemingly strange questions

Dr. Mike is great with the kids as they are quite comfortable with him but know what services he does even for regular bi-annual/annual visits. I thought everything would be covered by insurance as we are only going for our bi-annual check up but ended up with a bill a few months later, called and was told fluoride wasn't covered by ins as it was covered for once a year but I wasn't made aware of this during our visit. It was my fault for not checking with ins but with bi-annual/annual visits you would expect that the office would know what items would be denied and tell you in advance

Simply amazing. I don't live in the area but Tootharium is worth the drive. My three year old son is completely at ease and comfortable during his dental visits. Thanks to Dr. Mike's upbeat attitude and patience. He sings and plays games to show kids how to properly care for their teeth. The kids each get prizes and a balloon and hat. It's nice not having a fighting, crying toddler because of the fear of "the doctor"! My son looks forward to seeing Dr. Mike. The staff is knowledable, professional, and courteous. Keep up the great work. I can't thank you enough!

Dr. Mike and his staff are awesome! Dentists are very scary for kids and he has the most incredible upbeat attitude, original dental songs, special prizes for the kids and a really amazing skill set. I am so happy we found him. Honestly, my 2 year old son said "Mommy I love the dentist!" when we left. I could not recommend him more.
