Services
Jiu Jitsu is an ancient Japanese martial art that can be traced back more than 1,000 years. Jiu Jitsu techniques consist of kicking, striking, movement, throwing, choking, joint locking and holding as well as certain weapon knowledge. The techniques can be practiced regardless of age, size, or strength.
Sensei Karen Lamb is the owner and head instructor of the Zanshin Self Defense Academy. After several years of managing the Academy, she became the owner and head instructor in 1996. Holding a 4th degree Black Belt in Goshin Budo Jiu Jitsu, she has been profiled in Action Magazine in the Women in the Martial Arts edition.
The children's programs are designed to work on challenging body skills and creative thinking. The classes help increase concentration, self-confidence, self-discipline and improve attention span. The children progress at their own pace and enjoy working in a fun and safe atmosphere with a lot of positive reinforcement.
The Zanshin Self Defense Academy prides itself on its welcoming and family-friendly environment. In addition to our fully matted training area, we have dressing rooms for the students as well as a viewing area so parents or friends can watch class (without distracting the students). Classes vary from 45 to 60 minutes depending on the class and we have a flexible schedule that fits most people's needs.
