Tree Top was started in 2002 by Devin Downs. There wasn't a green landfill around Boise at the time and Mr. Downs, familiar with the industry, saw an opportunity to provide Boise a place to bring their yard waste and add value to it rather than letting it rot or burn as it would in a typical landfill.
Whether it's Spring and your prepping your landscape for new plantings or Fall and you're clearing your yard for winter you're going to need an affordable place to take your yard waste. You can take it to a landfill, but they're expensive - about 3 times the cost of our facility - and they don't recycle it.
Like the inside of your home, the outside needs equal if not more attention to maintain a beautiful look and stay healthy and functional. Southern Idaho has a tendency to be very dry in the Summer. Laying down a good bark or mulch will dramatically reduce the amount of ground moisture lost during the day due to evaporation.
One of the biggest headaches for certain businesses is dealing with waste. If you're a landscaping company taking your truck to the landfill at the end of a long day adds hours to the day. Then you tack on fuel costs, risks of accidents, losing a piece of equipment, paying your workers more for their time.

Have been here 2x in the last year. I really appreciate the affordable pricing and helpful staff.
First time was tree stumps and branches. This load today was mostly dirt, some weeds, some rocks from the side yard I've been shoveling out.
When I have loads that are qualified for this recycling center, it's a guarantee I will be there first.

Excellent service—they were super helpful on the phone in describing their products and helping me to estimate how much soil I needed. They delivered 10 yards of 50/50 soil blend very quickly and in the location I requested. Three months later, I'm seeing a few earthworms crawl up into some of it, which is a great sign of soil health. However, the soil I received had A LOT of plastic in it, as well as some other trash. I tried my best to pull out the trash (mostly plastic, but also wires, bits of metal, and several large, poorly-shredded pieces of what appeared to be socks or other clothing)

Tree Top has a convenient location for SE Boise Patrons. They have multiple types of bark, gravel and soil. They ARE recyclers. This means that they produce some of their inventory from wood waste products. So occasionally you will get unintentional product in your load. An example could be mis colored items or scrap plastic wrap... But overall for the price and convenience it's fairly reasonable.

I am disappointed with the soil that Tree Top Recycling sells. A neighbor of ours picked up some soil to fill in raised beds that we have decided to work together. He doesn't know much about gardening and didn't realized that he was buying almost pure clay. Yes, he should have taken a better look at it before purchasing, or asked for a soil sample or something. Tree Top was recommended by a friend and he assumed that when he told them that he needed soil for his garden and the employee said he had what we would need, that they would indeed be selling him soil that is workable. Very disappointed
