Aikido Center Of Dover
Aikido, the Way of Harmony, is a gentle yet effective, non-violent martial art which can be practiced by anyone. Powerful and versatile as water, Aikido practice can be a slam-bam high-flying workout or a gentle exercise in breathing and balance. We will help you find the way that works for you. To try a class free, just come in 10 minutes before any class and we will walk you through.

You can get a better sense from feeling than from watching. Wear sweat pants and a T shirt (not tank top). And we will be gentle. Aikido is about the "loving protection of all things", including you!
Services
The mission of our dojo is to share the art of Aikido in an accessible, family friendly, safe, peaceful, and joyful environment. In order to make Aikido available to everyone who wants to learn, including low-income local residents, our prices are below cost, and nobody is excluded because of inability to pay.
What's different about our Kids Aikido classes? Our Aikido kids don't just "take a class"; they are valued members of our warm and welcoming dojo community and the broader Aikido community. They learn to respect themselves, each other, their instructors, and their dojo by working together during class, maintaining the dojo after class and by participating in monthly - generally free - outdoor group activities.
POWER is often thought of as a dirty word, especially by survivors of abuse and other traumas. Power corrupts. Power is violent. Power oppresses. Power is for someone more worthy. BEAT uses simple movement and mindfulness exercises which will explore and change physical, emotional and cognitive responses you may have developed to survive trauma, but which are now keeping you from living fully and happily.
Just walk and breathe and let your body move, and let go of all the resistance which blocks you from the calm, compassionate power within you. Aikido is an art based on non-resistance. The untrained impulse is to push when pushed, and pull when pulled. In Aikido, we instead agree with the opponent and help him go the way he was headed while maintaning grounding, so that the attacker loses balance and defeats himself.
Traditional etiquette in an Aikido dojo demonstrates the respect students have for this art, for O Sensei, and for each other. Such respect sharpens and energizes the practice of Aikido. Thus, proper etiquette is an expression of the spirit of one's training and cannot be simplistically reduced to rules or formulae.

Great work out. Put me in better shape than I was 20 years ago. I increased my stamina and toned. It’s hard work though.
