David graduated from the University of Florida (with Academic Honors) and the University of Florida College of Law (with Academic Honors). I grew up in Lakeland and after college I settled here in Plant City to practice law, be near my family and give back to my community. After being admitted to the Florida Bar in 1998, I settled in Plant City to begin my legal career.
A good estate plan makes sure your intended beneficiaries are taken care of at your death. Making a last will and testament is one way to take control of the situation. Probate is the process for winding up the affairs of a person who is deceased. There are several levels of probate in Florida based on the size of the estate and other factors.
First, you must have been a resident of Florida for more than six months immediately prior to filing for a divorce in Florida. Second, since Florida is a no-fault state the only question is whether the marriage is irretrievably broken. So, basically if one party wants out of the relationship the other party cannot prevent it.
You should always ask for an attorney BEFORE you talk to the police about an alleged crime in which you are a witness or target of an investigation. NO, you do not have to give consent to let the police search your car.
If you do consent, and the police find some illegal contraband (for example, illegal drugs; a prescription medicine that is also a controlled substance (for example, Xanax or Oxycotin) that is not yours; illegal weapons; or even alcohol if you are under 21 years of age); then the police can arrest you for the possession of that illegal contraband.

Mr. Byrd was very helpful in looking over my fathers trust documents on short notice. It came to my attention shortly before my father went into assisted-living that’s some of his trust documents needed to be updated. Mr. Byrd was able to complete all of the updates and get the amended documents back to me in less than a week. He was very easy to talk with, and very accommodating with my fathers advanced age.
