Gifford Valley Health Center
Shortly after the turn of the 20th century, Dr. John Gifford, a popular local physician and the son of an East Randolph farmer, took up as a personal cause the creation of a hospital in his home town. In 1903, he purchased the Seldon Holman house on South Main Street - at the site of today's Gifford Medical Center - and with two nurses established a private hospital.

Two years later, discouraged by the high expenses and demands that came with running a small hospital alone, Dr. Gifford made plans to close his hospital. It was then that several local leaders, realizing the value of the hospital, stepped forward to create a corporation that would purchase the hospital and keep it open.
Services
Over the years Gifford has worked to support the needs of the communities we serve, and for more than a century they have generously supported our mission: to provide high-quality, compassionate care close to home. Your gift is an affirmation of this mission, and allows us to continue to offer a full spectrum of quality health services-from birth to end of life-for generations to come.
Here we have the most powerful sense of community and commitment to health and wellness as I have ever seen. Gifford, a progressive, community-focused organization, has provided compassionate, high-quality health care to central Vermonters for nearly 120 years. Many of our team members were drawn to Gifford by our powerful sense of community, both within our organization and in the towns we serve.
At Gifford, we see healthcare as a partnership between each provider and their patient. The goal of our Patient Portals are to help you better manage your health information so you can stay informed about your health. Here you can easily and securely access up-to-date health information, medication history, upcoming appointments, test results, discharge instructions, and more, whether you're at home, work, or out of town.
When you visit your health care provider's office, stay in the hospital or even come to the Emergency Department, bring your medications with you in a Ziploc-style bag. The actual medications give health care providers the most accurate list of what you're taking, reducing the chance of medication errors, such as duplications or drug interactions.
Why do I have a deductible? A. Most insurance policies have deductibles. They are chosen by your employer when they decide on a health plan. It is important when signing up for benefits with your employer that they explain what can be applied to your deductible. Having a service applied to a deductible does not mean it is not covered by your insurance.

Horrible staff. Uncaring, incompetent receptionists that fail to relay messages or put any effort into their responsibilities. Frequently break laws pertaining to a person's right to have a medical advocate present with a patient. Extremely rude and insensitive ER staff. I've been going to this hospital for both primary care and emergencies for three years now, and today was absolutely my last. I have experienced nothing but frustration every time I've turned to them for medical care. My ongoing health problems went untreated (I found out by seeing another doctor that I had a potentially life-threatening

Editing my review to state that the primary care here is great, but emergency and other care is subpar and your better going somewhere else. Many doctors and nurses completely ignore requests, ignore patients, and don't take medical complaints seriously. Unfortunately the better staff have to apologize for the bad staff care and re-treat.

Best medical system in Vermont. Very convenient and helpful staff, and they go above and beyond to squeeze you in for an appointment even though there maybe nothing available online.
The negative reviews are probably from patients who were not healthy to begin with, and are blaming Gifford's physicians rather than take responsibility for their own health and lifestyle choices-pathetic!

Gifford's birthing center is second to none. Every member of the staff - nurses, midwives, and even those serving the food - is knowledgeable, skilled, and kind. The hospital is a wonderful asset to the Randolph community.

Gifford provides excellent care. Every one is a person, not a number like the bigger hospitals. Kind and professional help. Clean and modern facility.

Since I was a kid, my entire family did business at this hospital, but about 10 years ago something changed. The attitude there now seems to be that patients are just a bother. On my last visit, I was made to feel like I was bothering the doctor because I have 3 hernias and wanted to have them repaired. There are still some nice people who care that work there, and I hope the tide will turn, but until then, I've stopped going there. When the entire staff begins to see their patents as human beings instead of a nuisance, I may go back, but not until then.

What kind of ER will pump you full of IV antibiotics but won't give you a note for work? Waiting for 30 minutes after finishing treatment and requesting the note. Any decent facility has these in a format where the MD has only to fill in a few blanks.

️Folks come from miles around to deliver their babies in the birthing center. It is absolutely top notch. ⭐️And no one could have cared more for my mother during her last month. ⭐️The townspeople stop by the cafeteria for lunch: the food is that good. ⭐️And if you're really bad off, they haul you to Dartmouth Hitchcock. ⭐️The fifth star is for ample parking.

A small town facility with a big city feel, the staff here are always helpful and courteous.

This is a clean and well equipped medical Centre, with professional staff who seem to really enjoy their job and enjoy helping people. I've been there several times for family members, and every visit was made to feel that we were the only patient / case they had that day as they were so attentive.

This facility is a shining star in Randolph, Vermont!!
