Services
As one of the leading marine and industrial contractors on the east coast, Lyon Shipyard is proud to provide our customers with high quality repair and fabrication services held to the highest standards.

We supply our customers with services including, but not limited to, marine electronics repair, industrial fabrication, barge mending, pier side repairs as well as hauling vessels out of the water for underwater repairs to equipment such as propellers, tailshafts, rudders, keel coolers and hull plating.
Lyon Shipyard was established in 1928, when George C. Lyon, Sr. and two partners bought the facilities of the G.T. Taylor Marine Railway. Originally known as Moon Shipyard and Repair Corporation, the yard consisted of only a small frame machine shop, carpentry shop, and two marine railways. Moon Shipyard was situated on the same piece of prime waterfront property, the eastern branch of the Elizabeth River, where Lyon Shipyard remains to this day.
Lyon Shipyard inside machine and Z-Drive gear box shops are available for machining work for any business in any industry. Maritime machining isn't the only industry we service. Here at Lyon Shipyard we have a full array of precision machining equipment ready to serve numerous industries with short lead times.
George Lyon, Jr. has been the President of Lyon Shipyard for over 30 years. His areas of expertise include operations, project management, mergers and acquisitions, estimating, contracting and strategic planning. Under George's leadership the company has grown 10 fold while diversifying its customer mix and increasing the yard's production capabilities.
At Lyon Shipyard (LSY), we strive to give back to our community by supporting efforts that improve the quality of life in the communities surrounding our shipyard in Norfolk, VA. Through financial support, employee volunteering, and partnerships with our customers and non-profit organizations, we support causes that will have the greatest impact on the community and the people who live there.

Whoever replied as Lyons owner attendance wasn't a issue and if its someone I can contact list a name and a number. Don't just say this for the review.
I work for this company for less than 1 month. I had just won custody of my daughter and I was contacted by the lawyer to come pick up my child when I left work. I told my supervisor what I had to do and he acknowledged that he understood. So at 3:30 when it was time to go and get off work the vice president wanted a job finished but I had to leave to go get my daughter cuz it was my first day of having custody of her and I wasn't going to be late

Been working for Lyon Shipyard for 3 months now. All I can say is that this is a place I can see myself working for a long time. A lot of room for promotion and improvement.

Horrible place to work for. Some guy died one day when I was working. They fired him shortly after.
