Williams Funeral Directors was founded in 1885 as M. D. Williams Furniture and Coffins. Marion Davis Williams and his brother, Jasper Williams, emigrated from Lebanon County, Tennessee to Dallas County, Texas in the mid-1870's. They traveled by horseback and settled near the communities of Embree and Duck Creek.

Several years passed before the rest of M. D.s family joined the brothers, including their parents, Marlin G. and Sarah Ann (Holt) Williams. After becoming a successful farmer and rancher, in 1885 M. D. and Jasper formed three small businesses in Duck Creek; a dry goods store, a grocery store, and a furniture and coffin store in which their father, Marlin G. Williams, who was a cabinet maker, worked.
Services
Staff members of Williams Funeral Directors are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. Cecil Williams II currently serves as President of Williams Funeral Directors.
In 2003 we re-located from our 1200 Main street address to our new facility at 1600 S. Garland Avenue, adjacent to Garland Memorial Park. Although the building may change, our purpose has not. We can provide you with a greater selection of quality services, from people you know and trust. Our new facility is twice as spacious.
Cemetery Charges and Grave Openings: (in local cemeteries where we are allowed to do so, many cemeteries are private or have contractual obligations with grave services.) Note: Many cemeteries charge interment fees to remove excess dirt following interment and we must collect this fee from you. Some cemeteries do not provide dirt removal service and you must make arrangements for your own lot restoration following the interment.
Williams Funeral Directors is currently contracted for Grave Opening/Closings, lot sales, & record keeping. For these inquires, you may contact us directly. Williams Funeral Directors does not manage, write rules & regulations, nor enforce rules of the parks. The elected board of directors for Garland Mills Cemetery Foundation handles these affairs.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.

Heads up before ANYONE BUYS a plot for Williams Funeral Home in Garland Tx.
haven't been there a month for our nephews untimely death and this is the way they treat your loved ones. Very Disrespectful, we literally thought someone vadialized his grave come to find out it was the owner and grounds crew. Even when they buried him, they was no sense of compassion more like business as usual, no feel for family or respect for the family or deceased. and mind you, this wasn't their basic package. But as I can see they have time to answer back Bad reviews but don't have time to give a new family a call

Justin Williams I could never thank you enough for all your support through out this very difficult process. You helped us do right by my mother, Laura.
As busy as you all were you made the process seamless and perfect. God bless you all.

Horrible horrible customer service in general!!
Everytime we call front desk they always have a really negative attitude, unwillingness to assist, and a smart mouth. Also nobody ever knows anything or has an “answer” .If you are going to work at a funeral home the least you can do is be courteous.

I used Williams Funeral Home for my husband Clifton. They, Whitney, made the process very easy and respectful. I knew exactly what I wanted and they did not try to get me to do anything else. I was kept informed about the process and was told to call if I needed anything else. I used Williams seven years ago when my Mom passed. I would highly recommend Williams Funeral Home to anyone in need of their services.

The service they offer was atrocious. My mother in law passed January 10, 2021. Due too covid it was a closed casket, graveside service.
They picked her up from nursing home, transfered to Tyler. From Garland to Greenville to family plot.
They rushed the service. Did not have anything to keep mud covered for family to walk on. They had to walk in mud. Then they RUSHED through the service. Family did not have any services done on site. No makeup and just was able to put a blanket on her.
This was a prepaid plan. I would suggest you run as quickly as possible.

The grounds maintenance crew put tire skid marks on my Aunt Irene Bunch, head stone, dumped her flowers and turned the urn upside down. This is the families place of remembrance of their loved ones and should be treated with respect. The flowers can't be saved, but the black marks should be cleaned off and the urn put back in place. Williams says they were not responsible for the grounds keeper..well then they should have someone to follow up and put the sites back like they were. Be accountable for your workers disrespect.

Couldn’t be more pleased with this funeral home. From the staff to the services. We were referred to the funeral home by a friend. Losing a loved one is difficult and then having to make funeral arrangements on top of that is stressful enough. We were greeted and helped by Raul, who took his time and explained the process. He was very professional and answered all our questions we had along the way. Raul and his staff exceeded our expectations and always went the extra mile. From helping with obituary, finding us a drove release company, transportation, the list goes on. When we lost another
