Windshield chips can often be repaired if they are minor and not in the "acute area" of the windshield (the area directly in the driver's line of sight). General rules of thumb are that chips can be repaired if the damage is only to the outer layer of the windshield's laminated safety glass and if the total size of the chip is less than the size of a quarter.

They take the full money with purpose, because they know they do a very rushed and third rate job, and if payments are taken in full the customer does not have a leg to stand on. The job was done but a lot of glass was left in the door panel, this causes the the broken glass to shatter around in the door panel and when you are closing and opening the door, that is the sound you will hear. even when driving, its in fact dangerous, especially when driving on the motorway. The fitter claimed that the glass will fall through, but for that to happen one will have to wait months on end. Its ridiculous

Having had my window smashed I needed a replacement fast. To their credit, the window was sourced quickly and fitted quickly too. As other have commented though, it's the quality of the work that's the issue. The amount of class left in the door is considerable, and weeks after the work was carried out, I still get broken glass being thrown from the door every time it is closed. It seems reasonable to expect the broken glass to be removed, or at least advise customers it won't be before work is carried out - I had no idea it wouldn't be until I drove the car for the first time. Outstanding service from start to finish - from phoning (in a panic!) to the work being done at my house by the lovely repair man. He phoned ahead to say he was on his way. It was a very much better price than I had prepared myself for to repair a heated front windscreen and the work was all done in an hour. Very highly recommended.
And, now, a year later, I have had to call Phoenix again for another repair! The outstanding service and communications that I mentioned in my post last year are still there: an excellent and friendly company.
