I have been a licensed, doctoral-level psychologist since 1984. I received my Ph. D. at the University of California, Berkeley. Postdoctoral work and clinical training was provided as a Fellow of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Adolescence at the University of Chicago and the Michael Reese Medical Center.

Subsequently, as a member of the faculty of the University of California, San Francisco Medical School in Fresno, I had an opportunity to do NIMH- funded research on family functioning and health outcomes, provide clinical service to adults, couples, and their families at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, and to teach psychology interns and first-year psychiatric residents.
Services
Style and Approach: Perhaps the most important aspect of successful therapy is the "fit" between client and therapist. Therapy will be successful to the extent that my client and I develop a trusting relationship with each other, where my client feels increasingly safe and comfortable in disclosing personal information.
It is usually helpful to prepare for therapy, or to increase the effectiveness or efficiency of therapy, by reading. Reading between sessions can help increase one's focus, and reinforce the gains made in the process of individual, couples, or family therapy. Listed below are a few outstanding books that clients have found to be particularly helpful.
Initial Contact: You are welcome to call me directly to set up an initial appointment. If I am not immediately available, please leave a message with some times that I can reach you, and I shall do my best to return your call as soon as possible. I would be glad to spend a few minutes discussing the reasons for your call and some of the issues you would like to address.
