Children's Dentistry
We take pride that you have chosen to be a part of our practice. Our ultimate goal is to provide the highest quality dental care for all children in the Downriver and Southeastern Michigan area. Our website has been designed to give you an abundance of information about our practice, services we provide, and pediatric dentistry in general.

We are dedicated to providing our patient's parents with dental education and nutritional awareness, so that they make informed decisions regarding the dental care for their children. We are very fortunate to be a part of the lives of children and families that are members of our pediatric dental practice in Southgate, MI.
Services
Our office provides dental treatment for patients from birth through their teenage years. This may include, preventative care, cavity treatment, minor oral surgery, conscious sedation dentistry and some interceptive orthodontics. We also treat many children with special needs and children with cooperation issues.
Pediatric Dentistry is a specialty of dentistry that focuses only on children, adolescents and children with special needs. They are often called the pediatricians of teeth and sometimes are known as developmental dentists. After completing four years of dental school, the dentist must complete two to three additional years of rigorous training to become a pediatric dentist.
We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination so that you and your child may meet the doctor and staff and become comfortable in our office. During future cleaning appointments (over age of 3 years), we have a "children only practice" and require that you allow your child to accompany our staff through the dental experience (please see Office Information).
For more information concerning pediatric dentistry, please visit the website for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. The pediatric dentist has an extra two to three years of specialized training after dental school, and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years.
Sending through this online portal will ensure that your email gets to the doctor safely and securely. Preschool children and children with special needs are seen in the morning because they are well rested and without the after school rush, we can work more slowly with them for their comfort. School aged children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason.

I gave a 1 because 0 is not available. My 2 oldest girl need dental work and my husband company changed insurance so we had to find a new dental office. We went to the office and the staff was great at first. The first set of procedures were done and they call to confirm for next set in the process they send we owned $200 more. I did understand because we ask for the bill before and after time of service, then I pay. Now after some about 10 week with call for new appointment they say we own more money. After I tell her to send me the details she said she has to loom it up I'm now confused because

I have been taking both of my children to Dr. Jody Finazzo for years, and I would recommend this clinic to anyone. My children always have positive experiences during their visits, and do not mind going to their check-ups at all.

I took my son here one time. Place was dirty, they were way past schedule (we went back over an hour after our appointment time), and despite claiming she could work with disabled pediatric patients, they didn't seem that familiar - they went straight for the papoose board. After finding out she wouldn't let me go back with him on a next visit I was done. Check out Dr. Golnick in Taylor - he is awesome! My son's autism is severe; Golnick's office is clean, professional, good staff, he's patient with my son and goes for the least restrictive work environment (I hold my son!).

My son came out of there looking shell shocked after fillings. I had told him prior to arriving, that if there was any pain he could raise his hand and let the dentist know. That they would take their time, and not force anything. That he didn’t need to worry at all. I made it clear to them prior that he was a little nervous, and if he was apprehensive to the point of crying or really stressing out, please do not do the work. The receptionist said not to worry, that they would put a “calming blanket” on him. And stop the work if he wasn’t able to do it. I assumed the “blanket” was something

Absolutely loved the staff. I took my 3 year old for his first appointment and he was so comfortable that he let them take his X-rays with no problem. They explained everything to me as they worked and really made it a comfortable experience for my son. I took my 18 month toddler as well and she wasn’t the best patient but they never complained and had so much patience with her. I highly recommend this dentist office to everyone I know.

I’ve taken my youngest son here for the last few years. He refused to cooperate at the regular dentist, so I chose to drive him up to the pediatric dentist. We have had good experiences here every time. He watched the videos at his first appointment, let them count his teeth , let them brush his teeth & attempted X-rays. I went back for the first visit only. In my experiences with my three boys, kids cooperate better without having mom to cling to. Same story for preschool, the longer the goodbye was, the more upset or difficult my kids were. I get the whole go back alone thing!

My daughter has very bad anxiety when it comes to dentists. We have been to 3 different ones. The last one told me about Mrs Finazzo . I am so glad that she did! My daughter went right back there with her an I didn’t get called to go back there! My daughter came out smiling telling me how everything was explained in detail to her . They were able to do X-rays cleaning And put sealant on her molars. Jody even went over And beyond when it came time for My daughter to get braces. Thank you so much !! What a great dentist and awesome team!

My children were very scared before coming to the dentist, and the Dr, and staff were so helpful and friendly that my children are not scared anymore. This office is amazing and I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else.

Please do your research before sending your kids to this dentist. I assumed that she would be wonderful with kids just because she was a pediatric dentist...boy was that a wrong assumption. We have moved on to a wonderful family dentist and are so much happier!
