Some couples seek counseling to strengthen the bond they already share, to rebuild a troubled relationship, or to realize their relationship is at an impasse. Couple counseling can address issues involving communication problems, anger, infidelity, divorce, sexual difficulties, parenting, financial problems, substance abuse, and many other difficulties.
All people experience stress at some point in their lives: for some it is rare, and for others it is a daily occurrence. Our bodies automatically deal with stress by releasing hormones to help deal with stressful situations. This is called the "fight or flight response." Once stress is reduced, your body goes back to its normal state.
Everybody experiences feelings of sadness at one time or another. Depression is different: it is like a dark fog which surrounds you, and feels impossible to navigate through. You may have difficulty getting through the day, and even the simplest of actions may seem like heavy chores. It may occur due to either a physical imbalance of brain chemistry or an emotional situation that has not been resolved.
Anger itself is not a problem. The danger lies in how someone manages their anger or the triggers for anger. Anger is a natural response to perceived threats, and when managed properly, it can even motivate you to take action or to get involved with causes that you feel passionate about. Most people don't know how to express anger appropriately.
Anxiety is a normal part of life. It can be useful when it alerts us to danger. But for some people, anxiety can be a persistent problem that interferes with their daily living. It can harm relationships and work, and can eventually lead to health concerns. There are many forms of anxiety that range from generalized anxiety, which is a persistent worry to post traumatic stress disorder, which has more specific trigger and symptoms.
