Carnegie East House saved us. Literally. Our Dad was Mom's best friend and loving partner for sixty years and when he passed away, we worried how she would function and how we could ensure her safety while helping her maintain as much independence as she could handle. Once she moved into CEH, she was on her way.

All apartments include many distinctive features designed to maximize independence and provide a safe environment for older adults. The minute you walk through the door at Carnegie East House you get a feeling of warmth and friendliness.

I am a home health aid who had served several cases at CEH for the past 2 years .
Overall is a good place….. Joseph Grieven the director is on site and handles matters in an effective way, very good blend being compassionate and effective.
Wilma Torres is also a great asset to the facility, compassionate, caring and hands on. A person that in my experience in an amazing addition to any facility, that adds such an improvement to the residents quality of life is the activities/entertainment directos: Scott, he is truly gifted and special, a unique blend of authenticity, fun, excellent sense of

I am eternally grateful to Carnegie East House for caring for my mother. My mothers was cared for by a staff that was sincere, kind, friendly, competent and accommodating in every way. They took a personal interest in making sure she felt welcomed and maintained a personal interest in her comfort and her needs throughout her 5 years there. I am especially grateful to Joseph H. Girven, Executive Director for his leadership in making sure that everyone at Carnegie East felt content and secure. His kindness will always be remembered! Many thanks to you all, for making my mother very happy.

When my mother became unable to take the stairs in her home safely and couldn't shop for groceries, we knew it was time for her to transition to assisted living. I looked throughout Manhattan and found Carnegie East on the Upper East Side not far from where I reside. She was greeted by all the staff like extended family. She made friends quickly and flourished. Joseph Gervin, the CEO, made sure everything we needed to make her life easy was taken care of. What struck me most was his kindness and caring demeanor. He sets the tone for all his staff. We are so pleased and grateful.

Friends that live in Senior Citizens Communities aren't dead yet! Some go out for a drink at my local hangout next door! They keep up even at 100 years old. I should be that lucky!!
Don't stereotype humans because of their age. Get to know some. You may be surprised what you learn and how much fun you can have!!
This community is costly but offers all the services on premises that someone needs to live a full and happy life. It's right in my neighborhood. :-)

Becoming more and more disappointing as years go by-- has basically become an unlicensed nursing home with little appeal for reasonably independent seniors. Got rid of their outside managers and are trying to run it themselves (probably doesn't make any difference as the owners rarely did anything their managers suggested they do, like hire a new food service manager).
Food is horrible -- the worst institutional food I have ever had. Food service manager claims he is allowed only $6 per resident per day (although I have recently heard it has gone up to $7 per day). So I guess I wasn&apos

New and superb assisted living facility: highly alert seniors live here and get two meals a day, making their own breakfast in their apartments. Medical care is available and so are activities well beyond shuffleboard: poetry writing group, current events, etc. Outside guests may join residents at meals for a fee.
Warm and caring staff and residents.
Not inexpensive, however.
