In the summer of 2009, the Aikido Center of Lancaster first began holding classes at Two Dudes Painting Company. From our humble beginnings in the corner of a warehouse, we began introducing the way of peace to the Lancaster community. The response was gratifying and we soon launched a children's program.
Christian Recknagel holds the rank of Nidan (2nd degree black belt) and is a student of Greg O'Connor Sensei. He has studied with O'Connor Sensei since 1995 and is certified to teach through Aikido Centers, O'Connor Sensei's organization. Christian has enjoyed exploring the many interpretations of aikido by teachers from different lineages and affiliations from around the world.
Come watch us train during one or two of our regularly scheduled classes. Then speak with Christian-sensei, our dojo-cho and chief instructor, about membership options. It is recommended that all students purchase an aikido or judo-style gi (gee) or training uniform. We carry a small stock of these for your convenience.
Kiddo Classes will be every Saturday at 9:15 AM. (Please note that our start time has changed from previous sessions.) The cost for the program is $125, and uniforms (Gi) are available for purchase at a cost of $50. Gi are not required for participation. More information below.

100% positive experience. I came to the dojo with no prior martial arts experience and an interest in adding good physical practice as well as the opportunity to learn more about the "martial art of peace." I found both of those things, as well as an amazing community of people!
There is a very accepting environment at the dojo, which you would see demonstrated in every class. There is a good gender balance, and members of the adult class varying in age from under 15 to over 60- with a variety of skill levels and backgrounds.
My son has taken the Kiddo Aikido classes, and loves the instructors

I give Aikido Center of Lancaster my highest recommendation.
I learned of ACL when a friend invited me to try a free class out. I didn't know anything about aikido but I researched it a little and was intrigued. I felt especially drawn to its non-competitive and peace-oriented philosophy, so I took my friend up on his offer.
On my first visit to the dojo, I found an incredibly warm and welcoming environment. Students of all levels were happy to work with me even though I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. They were consistently patient and reassuring as I made the same mistakes over and
