Mobile County Recycling Center
The average American produces 4.4lbs of trash per day, enough garbage to fill 63,000 garbage trucks, which if lined up end to end for an entire year would stretch half way to the moon. Here in Alabama that number is significantly higher, with the waste production per individual projected at 6.5lbs by the EPA.

These numbers are even more shocking when you take into account the fact that Americans represent 5% of the world's population, but generate 30% of the world's garbage. At the Mobile County Recycling Center we are working daily to advocate sustainability and to keep materials out of our communities' landfills.
Services
The Mobile County Recycling Center is a recycling drop off location and processing facility open to the public. The center has seen increasing volume ever since. The Mobile County Recycling Center is a project that was undertaken by the Mobile County Commission for the conservation and protection of coastal areas.
At the Mobile County Recycling Center we accept residential household recyclables, which are processed at our facility and then and shipped out to processors. The range of materials we are able to accept is largely dictated by the demand present in the market and the availability of funding for various programs.
The Mobile County Recycling Center relies on the support of our wonderful volunteers. Volunteers can render their services for as little as a few hours per year up to regular weekly hours as they best see fit. If you're interested in volunteering with us or would like more information please call the Mobile County Recycling Center at (251) 375-4527.
For over 100 years, Goodwill has been helping Americans find new uses for their unwanted items. In 1902, Rev. Edgar Helms put jobless immigrants to work repairing and cleaning donated items, keeping them being thrown in the trash. He then sold those items to pay for his workers' training and wages.

Great facility! Various recycle choices will save taxpayer dollars by not going to landfill, but recycled into products for consumption again and again.

The place itself is great and easy to use. Now if only the people making use of it understood using parking spaces, instead of lining up and blocking the entrance. Too many times haven't even been able to get into facility, because someone feels they are special, and parks just inside the gate, because it's easier for them that way.

With 80% of your adjusted hours now during the work week, closing on Sunday and closing early on Saturday you've made it a challenge for people to recycle. You have a great facility! Why not close one or two days during the work week (or just some mornings during the work week) so the public can actually get there and recycle without taking time off to do it. Think like a business and make yourself accessible to "customers" instead of acting like the government!

You pull up, sort your recycling and put it in the clearly labeled bins. The guys there are always willing to help and answer questions. I am usually finished within less than 5 minutes. Very efficient and professional place.

Totally stripped 3 old George Foreman grills and took the metal tops and the metal stands and also the hard plastic and they said they didn't take them. Didn't take the metal cooking surface. Hate to see this stuff end up in a landfill taking up space.

It's easy to come to and drop off stuff in the bins. Need more options for plastic though. They don't take containers even if the number on the plastic item matches.
Something for Styrofoam and egg crates would be nice.

Excellent facility, thanks Mobile. I always deal with Mr Warren. He has been a great help to me for about 4 years now. He definitely needs to be pated on the back. The only thing I might suggest is when ever you have community service worker's, make sure that they work!!!
Not just text and let the employees do it all.
I speak from my own community service experience. Thanks again for the facility.

I've been here a few times and each time it's been a pleasure. I really appreciate how they take more than 1s and 2s in plastic. They were very clean and anyone that I spoke to was very nice and professional. The bins were easily marked, so people remember, please put the correct items in the correct bins and wash them out, first. That is our job, not theirs.

Very easy to get in and out, make sure to separate your recyclables to speed up the process. It's very convenient to us and we are a large family who recycles about 1000 pounds per month. I'm looking at cutting the trash bill just like the cable bill and save money.
