A four generation tradition of family and farming is the motivation for Walloon Lake Winery. Nestled between the arms of Walloon Lake, our unique property has been farmed by the Dennis family since 1954. We craft award winning wines from locally grown grapes, including the seven varieties planted on our own property.
Dennis Farms began as a small dairy operation, later after Bob retired he turned it into a produce farm with green houses. The first Marquette grapes were planted in 2013. The goal is to expand to 15 acres of grapes with seven varieties: Marquette, Frontenac, Petite Pearl and Sabrevois for red wines, Frontenac Gris, Frontenac Blanc, and La Crescent for white wine.

Walloon Lake Winery blends years of tradition with cold hardy grape varieties and modern winemaking techniques to create a unique and delectable product, garnishing many awards along the way. Our wine is all produced and bottled right here on our own property, something we take great pride in. We enjoy the variety that each harvest brings us, and do our best to preserve that intrinsic quality in the product we create each year.
The Walloon Lake Winery family is dedicated to being good stewards of the earth and we are committed to treating the earth gently with all the decisions we make on the farm. Below is an overview of the areas we have been working on to create a happy healthy place to live, work, and play. We use integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach for our insect and disease management.
The 14 wineries that make up the Petoskey Wine Region are located in and around the greater Petoskey area, not far from Little Traverse Bay. They're part of a larger Tip of the Mitt American Viticultural Area (AVA)- which encompasses 2,760-square miles throughout Alpena, Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet and Presque Isle counties in the northern Lower Peninsula.
