Family is the Key to our vineyard and winery. In 2011 we began with just 400 vines, and with the help from our family and friends planting, trimming, and harvesting, we have continued to expand each year. The Spare Key Winery is one of the few estate grown and bottled wineries in Northern Michigan, meaning our wines are made from grapes grown in our vineyard and processed on-site by our team.

We offer a Spare Key to all visitors passing through, to unlock experiences and good times shared with each other. We hope Spare Key will become a Key in your life and encourage you to return to experience our Spare Key family again.

We have been there several times had great tasting wine and or glass but bought a bottle or 2 and brought it home to find it being super spicy and vinegary tasting... actually bad. This has happened on 2 separate occasions. Not sure we will go back again. Feeling like it's a bate and switch. Have a glass there but don't buy a bottle.

I can't drink their wine because of bad taste and you don't feel welcome at all

Haven't been here for a few years. They recently opened a new tasting room and it is definitely worth a visit. I'll be sure to make this one of my stops when I visit the Petoskey area again.

Loved our experience here!!!! I bought two bottles as well. The gals were so nice and let us walk out into the vineyard. Wine flight tastings were reasonably priced and I got to try a 5th for free. Will be back for sure!

Mike and Jean were awesome. They were so personal and easy to chat with. Their wines were very interesting; we loved that everything is grown on site! Their new building is very cool-old barnwood and corrugated metal. Don't sleep on this place,
I think this is only the beginning for Spare Key.

Fantastic small family winery. Everyone working there was so kind and helpful in the selection of wine. Great options for tasting and really well priced. Hope you like dogs! Brew and Latte were great drinking companions

Stopped here as part of the Harvest Stomp. Food was awesome and the Red Wine pairing I had was great. My wife had the white wine pairing and she enjoyed that also. This is going to be a gem once they get their tasting room built.

Beautiful winery with gorgeous view and fun wines. Take your bike from Petoskey and peddle on over or stop on by from Charlevoix. Super friendly Spare Key Winery crew will greet you and tell you all about their family business. Perfect place for an afternoon of sipping wines and taking in the wonderful vistas.
