Single Hung windows have a top sash that is fixed in place and lower sash that you are able to move up and down and also tilt in for easy cleaning. The double hung window is considered by many to be the traditional American window. Its styling features two vertically-operating sashes, allowing for maximum ventilation and the tilt in feature makes cleaning a breeze!
Bow windows are just like Bay windows except they usually have 4 to 5 openings which creates more or a curved or "bowed" look. Bow windows usually add more light than a Bay window because they have more window panes with more angles. Bow windows can also be wrapped around the corner of a building. Garden windows let you bring nature to you!
Egress windows are required in certain parts of a structure and are dual purpose in that they provide light into underground rooms but also provide and emergency exit point in case you are ever trapped in one of these rooms. Specifically they are required in every bedroom on a basement level.

Picture windows are a static window. They are able to create a "picture" like environment in your home. These are ideal for large windows where you just want to let the outdoors in. They are great for energy efficiency because there are no openings to allow airflow and they are generally more cost efficient as well.
