From the materials that help create products people use every day to the actual finished products, our consistent and cost-effective service takes products of any size to customers when and where they need them. In freight rail transport, interchange is the practice of railroads conveying freight cars from other companies over their lines.

This benefits shippers, whose cargo might otherwise have to be transhipped if the point of origin and destination are not both served by the same company. Be it growing multimodal operations in the Buffalo area or the state-of-the-art Batavia Transload Warehouse, we've got corner-of-the-world facilities centrally-located to serve Rochester, Buffalo, the Southern Tier and cross-border to Ontario, Canada.

The size of our company affords Genesee Valley the flexibility to handle requests of any scale. We're always refining our operations to ensure that each customer reaps the competitive advantages of shipping via train. The story of Genesee Valley Transportation Company is nothing less than a slice of the American dream.
3T transload service moves products from over-the-road trucks to rail cars, or vice versa. This allows shippers and receivers to combine the economic advantages of rail with the flexibility of over-the-road trucking. A single rail car can carry the contents of three to four (or more) truckloads - and trains are four times more fuel efficient than trucks.
Genesee Valley Transportation offers short & long term railcar storage on its railroads in Western & Central NY and Northeast PA. We have the capacity and flexibility to store your empty and/or loaded railcars including hazardous commodities. Some locations can also provide railcar return services.
With endpoints in the Niagara Frontier and Greater Rochester regions, the Falls Road Railroad supports a cornucopia of agricultural, perishables, petrochem and plastics customers in historic canal towns from Lockport to Brockport. Our Falls Road train crews provide regular switching of the 3T transload facility in Lockport Yard as well as multiple times per-week service across the entire forty-mile route.
The Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad (DL) handles a large variety of commodities including grain, forest products, paper, plastics, petroleum and fuel products, chemicals, aggregates, and much more. In the twenty-five years we've operated this publicly-owned asset in Northeastern PA, we've grown from 1,700 railcars handled to nearly 10,000 railcars in 2019.
